It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Bailey on February 23, 2021 in Sidney, BC. Jim was born in Comox, BC on August 19, 1934. Jim is survived by his wife Diane, his children, Sharlane (Erwin), Murray (Connie) and Marci-Lyne (Shawn); grandchildren Richard (Julia), Stephanie, Samantha (Daniel) and Allashua. Jim has 3 great-grandchildren as well. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, including all his nieces and nephews. He touched so many lives and had an amazing impact on everyone that knew him.

Jim and Diane were married in Comox, BC in 1962. They moved to Victoria where all 3 children were born. The family moved to Comox in 1979 and built the family home on the beachfront property that Jim purchased before he married. Jim semi-retired in the mid 1980’s and worked for BC Ferries on the Comox Powell River Ferry. He truly loved being on the water. Jim and Diane moved to Sidney in 2004 where Jim continued to expand his circle of friends.

There will be no celebration of life at this time due to COVID, but raise a glass in his memory and share a happy story! Jim wanted a party to remember him by with lots of love and laughter shared.

Rest in Peace Dad! You are loved!

Miss Me–But Let Me Go
by Christina Rossetti

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little–but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me–but let me go.

For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone.
It’s all a part of the Master’s plan,
A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss Me–But Let me Go!
