Jim passed away at his home in Victoria, BC, with his wife and three children by his side. The cause was unsuspected cancer. His family is heartbroken.
Jim was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, a big brother to Warren and Shirley, predeceased by little sister Marilyn. After achieving a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Queen’s University, he continued his education with an MBA from McGill University.
His was a long and successful career as a global business executive with Becton Dickinson Medical Devices. He and his family moved frequently, from Quebec, to Ohio, New Jersey, Ontario and Singapore. His executive roles included President of Edmont in Cowansville, Quebec, followed in later years as President of BD Canada and of BD Asia Pacific.
A gentle, quiet man of great integrity, Jim loved solving problems. Family, friends and business associates alike turned to him for thoughtful solutions. He was a passionate golfer and one-time President of Victoria Golf Club (carrying his bag and shooting his age as recently as September). An excellent skier, he and Dana spent a major portion of every winter at Whistler. Jim was an avid reader, a philanthropist who supported many local Victoria, BC, causes as well as legacies to his alma maters. Some of his varied pastimes included photography, furniture-building, kayaking, and walking with his dogs. He never tired of following his children and grandchildren’s lives and interests.
Husband for 56 years to Dana (nee Christmas); loving father to Cameron, Meredith and Katherine; proud grandfather to Benjamin, Aaron and Jack, Michaela, and Arianna and Abigail.
Jim/Dad/Bunka/Brother/ Friend will be sadly missed.
Gratitude is given to his doctor, VIHA Community Health and Victoria Hospice Palliative Care. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

,Claude Mury I am so sorry to hear about Jim, Dana. Joan and I offer our deepest condolences.
Our heart felt condolences to Dana and the family on Jim’s passing. We will miss his ready smile and good humour every time we met. For me, Bill, Jim was an inspiration in his dedication to fitness and golf skills which were always impressive. I never got tired of getting advice when we played because he was technically much better than me and I envied his short game greatly.
We will miss him and remember him often.
