September 25, 1927 – January 12, 2014
We are saddened to announce the passing of Jean Walkinshaw. Jean was born in Merritt, BC on September 25, 1927. She graduated from Magee High School in Vancouver and later attended the Cornish School of Applied Arts (now the Cornish College of the Arts) in Seattle, Washington and the State Akademie of Music in Vienna, Austria. Jean received her BA and MA in Music and an MA in Librarianship from the University of Washington in Seattle and went on to teach piano at Cornish, and in the Seattle area. She worked as a librarian in both the Seattle Public Library and the Victoria Public Library systems. Jean was predeceased by her brother Gordon Walkinshaw in February 1943 and is survived by her brothers Albert (Roberta) and John (Anne) as well as 4 nephews and 2 nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held in McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, 1400 Vancouver Street, on Monday, January 20th, 2014 at 1:00PM. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.sequoiagardens.com
