It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of my dear husband, Jeff, on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at the age of 81. He will be dearly missed by his children, Mike (Karen), Diane (Robert), John (Janice), Jen (Mel), Patricia (Wendy). Grandchildren, Samantha (Adam), Mike (Char), Matt (Kelsey), Amanda (Tyler), Christina (Dave) and Chantal. Great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Taylor and Amy. He was predeceased by his son, Tony, in August 1961.

Jeff was born in Hornchurch, England and came to Canada in 1946 with his parents. He met Jane in 1955 and she followed him to Canada where they were married. Jeff was working in radio at CKPG and then joined the RCAF where he was commissioned, serving for 5 years. He then worked for CKOV in Kelowna before moving to Victoria where he joined the Canadian Scottish Regiment Reserve. He was also stationed in Vancouver at Jericho. After retirement at 53 years, he joined the Corps of Commissionaires and worked at the Royal British Museum for sixteen and a half years in Security. Jeff had many interests; his love of model making produced a collection of over a thousand WWII planes flown with the Royal Air Force, he spent many years as an Officer in the Air Force Cadet movement in Kelowna, and he was one of the co-founders of the Victoria International Air Show. He had an intense love of nature and animals. His love of his family was immense and he was fondly called “Pops” by his children. He dearly loved his wife, Jane; they were kindred spirits. Jeff loved cooking and the highlight of his year was making the family Christmas cake with Jane.

Many thanks to Beacon Services for their kindness and care and to the wonderful staff at Emergency and A and B Blocks at Royal Jubilee Hospital and to the paramedics of the Ambulance Service – we met many wonderful people. To his final care at Hospice, the staff went above and beyond with their great care. They were truly “Angels of Mercy”. Special thanks to Dr. Walton and Dr. Gary Nielsen, their extreme kindness was very much appreciated by the family.

A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at 225 Obed Avenue. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallbros.com.
