Jeffrey Craig Jackson

Jeffrey Craig Jackson passed away suddenly on January 3rd, 2014 in Victoria, BC. He was born on November 15, 1956 in Vancouver, BC.

Predeceased by his father Duncan Jackson in 2008, Jeff is survived by his wife Susan Shepherd and two children Parker and Georgia Jackson; surrogate sons Cliff (Melissa) and Derek Stefanuk, and grandson Charlie; sister Jill MacDonald (Gary), niece Jennifer (Michael) and nephew Lanny. Jeff will be also missed by his life-long friends Pat and Dennis Hobbs.

Jeff grew up in North Vancouver where he worked with his father at L&K Lumber. Jeff was a sports enthusiast. In addition to being a soccer scoring sensation in the 1970’s and 80’s with the AA League North Shore Saints, Jeff loved to golf. One of his proudest moments was when he got his 3rd hole-in-one while golfing with his son Parker at Morningstar. In addition to his athletic abilities, Jeff loved to have a good time, so with his charm and beautiful steel blue eyes, he was always a hit with the ladies as there wasn’t anybody that could dance better than Jeff!

Jeff worked in real estate for most of his adult life and was very respected in his field for his intelligence, diligence and passion for ‘doing the right thing’. Anyone that knew Jeff knew a man with an unfiltered sense of humor and a gigantic heart. Jeff loved to entertain friends and family with stories (real & embellished). He would inspire positivity in anyone and everyone. It was very common to find him surrounded by people that were roaring in laughter.

Please join Jeff’s Celebration of Life at McCall Bros. downtown, 1400 Vancouver Street, Victoria on Thursday, January 16th at 2:30pm. A reception will follow at the McCall family Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeff’s memory can be sent to the Greater Victoria Coalition to End Homelessness. http://victoriahomelessness.ca/get-involved/donate/

  7. Dearest Susan it is difficult to find the right words of condolence but I leave this poem as a way of saying my heart is with you.

Do not stand at my grave and weep

    Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
    Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.

    Mary Frye, American poet (1904 – 2004)

  9. Dear Susan and family,
There are no words to describe our deep sorrow at Jeff’s passing.
We held the utmost respect for him.
One of our very first impressions meeting Jeff was his unmistakably striking brilliant blue eyes. It is said that “the eyes are the window of the soul” and nothing could be truer in Jeff’s case.
His bright and kind eyes mirrored his passion for life, his presence in the moment, his contributing spirit and his wonderful sense of humour. His eyes were compelling, clear and direct showing his sensitivity, honesty and integrity.
You could not be in Jeff’s company without feeling instantly better and more light-hearted….he had a way of lifting your spirits!
Jeff was a very good man and a privilege to know as a friend. We were looking forward to getting together more often and are extremely sorrowful of his far too soon passing.
May it be of comfort for you to know the positive impact and difference Jeff made. He definitely made the world a better and happier place and is, and will continue to be, greatly missed.
You are in our thoughts, hearts and prayers,
    With Love,
    Ron & Marilyn

  10. Our love and hugs are with you and your family. Below is a Native American prayer that to this day still helps.
I give you this one thought to keep-
I am with you still – I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think if me as gone-
I am with you still – in each new dawn.
