In the early morning of June 27th, Jenifer peacefully slipped from this life into life eternal with her Saviour Jesus Christ … well and whole again, free from all struggle and full of joy!

Jen was born, — the New Year Baby — in Nelson, B.C. and spent her first years there before moving to Williams Lake for her elementary school years. Her Dad’s job then took the family to Victoria where she completed high school.

Jen’s love of all living creatures found her raising all sorts of little furry animals and birds in the family home and conservatory. She went on to enjoy owning and riding horses as well as developing her own dog grooming business that she was such a ‘natural’ at until her recent diagnosis with glioblastoma in late January 2017 made continuing impossible.

Jen opened her home to many foreign exchange students and cared for each one as if they were family.

Her greatest source of pride and joy came from raising her sons, Christopher and Ian, who were by her side throughout her illness at home and during her stay in Royal Jubilee’s Hospice.

It was her siblings’ great privilege to care for Jen, their baby sister, during her illness and to witness her unfailing sweet, kind and gentle nature through it all. We came to see how loved and respected she was by so many friends, relatives and clients as they called, visited and cared so lovingly for her in so many ways.

We are so grateful for the wonderful support and care given by Homecare, the Palliative team and Caregivers who came to the house, as well as the Staff and Volunteers in Hospice.

Missing Jen deeply but treasuring her memory are her sons Christopher and Ian; siblings Michael Milroy, Susan (Steve) Luney, Steven (Sue) Milroy, Kerry (Doug) Renfrew; special Auntie Barbara Munday and many nieces and nephews and numerous friends, relatives and clients.

A Memorial Service for Jen will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Colwood Pentecostal Church, 2250 Sooke Road in Colwood, B.C.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

I have many wonderful memories of Jen, from our madcap days in young peoples together, when we would sit in the balcony giggling and writing notes, watching Mikhail Baryshnikov in White Nights and trying to do the splits after. We had lovely times riding horses on Mount Doug and going out for lunch together. I can remember coming for summer dinner at the family home on Feltham with Jen`s parrot and aviary, her love for animals was always a big part of her life. She had such a sweet and loving spirit. My boys first introduction to a pinata was at her and Roberto`s tiny place on Darwin. Every place she was in she made into a place of beauty and serenity, planting lavatera in their tiny yard. Jenifer was always a wonderful friend, she will be missed. She found an old china doll in a shop on Fort Street and had her mom make some beautiful clothes for it. I still treasure it as a memory of our friendship. Thank you for the lovely memories you shared today. It was wonderful to hear all the laughter, what a wonderful family to grow up in.

Jen Maiger is probably one of the sweetest and kindest people I have ever met. I was blessed to get to know Jen over the past three years as both a friend and a client. I was refered to Jen through a friend who had raved about how great she was with their dog. I had just purchased a mixed toy poodle and was looking for a caring groomer. It also just so happened that Jen turned out to have just started to attend Colwood Pentencostal church – which had been my home church for the past 9 years. I learned quickly that Jen was not only an amazing and talented groomer, but a fabulous friend. I was blessed to have had the opportunity to see and visit with her every eight weeks or so for the past three years, while she groomed my dog Charlie. I always looked forward to seeing her beautiful smile and hearing about how her beloved boys were doing. We listened to our favorite radio station PRAISE 106.5 as we shared endless stories about our families, our love of animals and the Love we Had for Jesus and being Christians. We also enjoyed seeing each other at church, went to the movies and spent an amazing time of fellowship during the Colwood Ladies Retreat in 2016. Since, meeting each other in 2014, Jen and I both lost our fathers – we talked about seeing them again in Heaven. Because of our common Christian beliefs and Faith, I know that Jen is home in Heaven with Jesus, but I also know she will be greatly missed by her sons, her family and all her friends. Til we meet again dear and cherished friend – I will never forget you. Sincerely, Paula

During our time at Westview Chapel we came to know Jen and her family. She was a lovely, gentle person and a wonderful mum to her boys. So thankful she is forever with the Lord and free from suffering, but we will be praying for Chris and Ian, as well as her family, as she will be greatly missed!
With love, Nelson and Heather Attwood & Family xo
