It is with the saddest of hearts that we announce that Jeremy Dufton, age 44, our beloved son, brother and friend passed away suddenly on January 31, 2019.
Jeremy loved everything outdoors. He enjoyed photography, fishing, surfing and gardening. Our family will always remember his passion for nature and wildlife. He was happiest when he was on a river, somewhere remote in Northern BC. Jeremy was an accomplished fly fisherman and was so proud to have worked as a fly fishing guide. Jeremy was a kind person who always wanted to help others. He inspired and comforted many.
Jeremy leaves behind his father, John Dufton; mother, Ann Dufton; sister, Kate Cahill; brother, Ian Dufton and nephews, Owen, Liam and Jackson as well as numerous friends in Victoria and beyond.
“We miss you and want you to know that you will always be loved and never forgotten.”
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive in Victoria at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 11, 2019.
Memorial donations may be made to Umbrella Society for Addictions and Mental Health.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

My deepest condolences to the Dufton Family.
Jeremy was one of the first people I met when I attended Brentwood. He was kind to all and a stalwart of the Whitall House Class of 1992. I have many great memories of him from that time. You’ll be missed Duff.

My heartfelt condolences to the Dufton family. I remember Jeremy through out different parts of my life. Through high school with his visits from Brentwood where he’d always have new music for us to listen to. To my first real job with tree planting as a colleague then as a supervisor. Then as a roommate in one of my first ventures away from my childhood home. Throughout it all he was kind, funny and engaging. I will always have a place in my heart for him.

From all here at Brentwood who knew Jeremy, our heartfelt condolences to all the Dufton family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult of times. I remember Jeremy as a gentleman in the true sense, thoughtful and kind to those around him.
Dearest Family Dufton,
We’re so sorry to hear of your loss. We’ll always remember Jeremy as the gentle giant who we were in complete awe of when we stayed with you in Prince George and explored BC together. The time we spent with you all was such a special experience for us and Jeremy was wonderful in looking out for the little boys that we were back then. We remember him so fondly exactly as you describe – at complete ease with nature. All our love from over the pond. Wish we could all be with you next week at the celebration of life. Know that we’re thinking of you and of course of Jeremy. Ben and Josh Pugsley
Our deepest sympathy to John, Ann. Ian, kate and family. We are thinking of you at this sad time. Julie, emir and all the o Connells in portmagee.
Words cannot express how sorry we feel to hear the sad news about Jeremy. We will remember him as a warm and caring person, and in the spring we will plant a tree in his memory. With our warmest condolences to our family in Canada from all the Rings.
My deepest sympathy to Kate and the entire Dufton family. So sorry for your loss.
My heartfelt condolences for your loss.
I’m so sorry to hear this sad news and send my condolences to Jeremy’s family and friends. Shared many bright campfires with Jeremy and I remember his warmth and sense of humour.
I planted trees with Jeremy for many years. He helped me through all kinds of mayhem when he supervised contracts for my company up in Lovell Cove.
Jeremy was special, and there were literally hundreds of people that worked with me. I never heard him say anything bad about anyone, yet there was always a twinkle in his eye, and if he did make fun of somebody’s foibles(including my own), he would be sure to make fun of himself at the same time. He had a tremendous sense of humor.
I am deeply saddened by his early passing. I had hoped to see him up in Prince George this year. Life, as death, does not seem to make much sense sometimes.
Condolences to Jeremy’s family.
Really, condolences to all of us. He will be missed.
