We are saddened to announce Joan’s passing, peacefully in the early morning of December 14. Predeceased twelve days by her dear husband of 71 years, John B. (Jack), Joan was a loving mother to Jane (Gord) and Debby (Randy) and Granma to five grandchildren and Great-Granma to five great grandchildren.
Born in Cardiff, Wales, UK, she was married in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1946 and enthusiastically embraced life in her new Canadian home. She brought up her family in Montreal, Quebec, enjoying summers at the cottage, swimming, canoeing and water skiing and winter weekends, snow skiing in the Laurentians. Joan often recalled her British school days, playing games, captaining the field hockey team, choral singing, cycling to the beach, rain or shine and visiting with many aunts, uncles and cousins. Later in life, Joan and Jack travelled extensively, always sharing many interesting stories and pictures on their return.
She is fondly remembered by her family and friends.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

duncan gray Very sad to learn of both Joan and Jacks passing. My family were great friends of theirs, meeting initially in Montreal where we lived across the road from each other in the late 1950s. I visited them while working and travelling in western Canada, in Calgary and in Victoria. I have great memories of how full of life and fun they were, Jacks love of flamboyant colourful clothing and mischievous fancy cocktails. I had just been looking at some old photos that my mum took on a visit to them in 1995, so did a search on the internet for them and found this page. So sad to hear of their passing. Barbara Trotter I had the pleasure of booking Jack & Joan’s travels for many years. There wasn’t a nicer couple… and they loved to travel! I was just trying to locate an address to send Joan a card with my condolences regarding Jack when I read about her! I’m sure they would have wanted to be together so it’s rather fitting although difficult for those left behind. I will always have fond memories of this lovely couple who came to be good friends and lunch companions! May they rest in peace together.

Dot Bushen Joan was a beautiful woman, inside and out. She was so kind, thoughtful and loving and she was so very proud of her family. I have such happy memories of Jack and Joan’s visits to the UK after their many trips abroad. We had fun, often in the company of Bubby (Joan’s oldest friend from school)and Ken. Despite the fact that I haven’t seen her for some years I shall miss her.

How sad to learn of the death of Mrs. Hunter, days after Mr. Hunter. As neighbours in Montreal, as a child I played with Jane. I remember Mrs. Hunter, usually sending us off to school, wearing an apron, or driving Mr. Hunter to work, still in her pyjamas! She kept Jane, Debby, and I in line at the cottage. My deepest condolences to Jane and Debby
