Born December 3rd, 1918 passed away peacefully on August 6th, 2013 at the age of 94. Joan was well-known for her love of music and playing the piano, accordion, ukulele and more. Joan had an amazing gift – she played all her songs by ear. For many years the “Joan O’Neill Trio,” later named “The Manhattans,” performed for dances and shows throughout Victoria. Joan continued to play with the Monterey sing-a-long group. Joan was a lover of animals, especially dogs; she supported many animal rescues. She is predeceased by her mother Alice; father Art; step-mother May and husband Tommy; her dear friend and relative Patsey Taylor. She leaves to mourn long-time friends Alma Bardsley, Marian Atkin, Audrey Ross, Patsey’s husband Roland Taylor; her goddaughter Kate and many nieces – Rolanne (Barry), Ronique (Derek), Joninne (Peter), Lynelle, Lesley and Janice (Shawn). Joan will be missed by her family and friends with whom she shared her passion for music.

A Remembrance tea will be held for Joan on Saturday, August 31st from 2-4pm at 3969 Shelbourne Street. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Joan’s memory can be made to an animal welfare organization. Condolences may be offered to the family below.
