John Moynan passed away at his home in Victoria, BC on December 16, 2015 at the age of 75. John is predeceased by his parents, Jeff and Anne Moynan and is lovingly remembered by his wife of 15 years, Kimberly Weatherby; his children Marc (Youna) and Helen (André); his sister Janet (Bob); his grandsons Geoffrey, Olivier and Ethan, his cousin Suzanne, Tristan, Janie and many other family members and friends.

John was born in Magog, Quebec in 1940, and graduated from Bishop’s College School in 1957. After five years in the Royal Canadian Air Force, John went on to a rewarding career in information systems and general management in Canada and the U.S. that culminated in his role as President of FCA International Inc.

John spent many years living in the Montreal area, and he and Monique (née Tremblay) raised their children there. In 1998 John retired to North Carolina with Kim. They returned to Canada in 2006 and made their home in Victoria, where John made many wonderful friends and developed his passion for bridge.

John was happiest when he was surrounded by his children, grandchildren and Kim. He loved spending time with friends old and new, travelling the world with Kim, playing bridge, discussing politics and enjoying good food and wine. We will all remember John’s zest for life and wonderful sense of humour that lasted right to the end.

The family wishes to thank all of those who supported and cared for John during his cancer treatment and the last few months of his life. The excellent care and your kindness and compassion touched John deeply.

A Memorial Reception will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at McCall’s Downtown, Johnson and Vancouver Streets. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation (BCCancerFoundation.com), or Victoria Hospice (VictoriaHospice.org).

John was a dear friend of both of us. It was a great disappointment when John and Kim moved from NC. John was charming, funny, thoughtful and caring for those who had no comfort or fair treatment in their lives. There was thankfully ongoing communication that was always a great pleasure. We know that God will look kindly on such a good man. Bless John always and peace to you Kim in your life.

I have many memories of John when we worked together at Hoffmann-LaRoche, here in Montreal, in the late sixties and early seventies. He had a brilliant and a very logical mind. He was my boss for many of those years.

    Wishing him peaceful rest.

In 2000, we retired to western North Carolina. We met John Moynan and Kim. Their home was one of incredible hospitality where we enjoyed neighbors, food and wonderful memories. We were able to sit at their table once more in the fall of 2014 in Victoria. John will be truly missed. May the day come when this cancer will no longer dominate the lives of those we love. Peace to all who love and cherish John.
