December 24, 1928 – January 24, 2015
Quietly and peacefully passed away at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital to come home to his Creator and be eternally reunited with his wife, Regina. He is survived by his only child and daughter, Jona. Jose lived a good life. A retired government minister in the Philippines through the 70’s and a ‘mover and shaker’ at the peak of his career, he moved to Victoria, BC in the late 80’s with his family to enjoy life in a place he called ‘paradise on earth’. A ceaseless optimist, he saw the positive in every situation, wasting no time to take the next move forward. A lover of nature and beauty, he tirelessly sought, to his last waking day, for ideas and ways to build his Eden in his old childhood hometown of Labo. A tireless entrepreneur, he saw possibilities and potentials in almost everything. A good father, most of all, he was my beacon and anchor in my life’s journey … an inspiration of how to live life fully. Life is good. This is what it was all about for Jose! Special thanks to Shela, Teresa, and Ellen who lovingly cared for him, each in their own special way and each with a fond story to tell of happy moments shared. Pepe to those whose lives he touched, he will be remembered dearly.
Prayers will be offered in McCall’s Floral Chapel, Johnson & Vancouver Streets at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Thursday, January 29th at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow in the church hall. Both religious services to be celebrated by Fr. Jona my condolences.
I will always have fond memories of your dad. When he celebrated his birthdays during the Christmas Breaks, in addition to the delicious food, he would always offer us his best Cognac and we would talk about life in the old country and Philippine politics.
TIto Pepe, Rest in Peace with God…
