It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of José (Joe) Carvalheiro Figueira Braz on January 18, 2015. Joe was born in Silvares, Portugal on October 30, 1946.
He leaves behind the love of his life of 43 years, Jeane; children, Phillip (Mishelle), Kristina (Ricardo), Steve (Blair); mother, Maria; brother, Carlos (Carmen); grandchildren, Mateo, Aryana, Cristiano, Nikolas, Matias and many family members and friends.
After Joe retired from a fulfilling career in Forestry, he enjoyed traveling, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends.
Prayers will be offered on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 7:45pm at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, 4635 Elk Lake Drive, Victoria, B.C. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 22 at 1:00pm at Our Lady of Fatima Parish followed by entombment at Royal Oak Mausoleum. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow at Our Lady of Fatima Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution can be made to the Victoria Brain Injury Society, Units D & E 830 Pembroke Street, Victoria, BC, V8T 1H9, or to the charity of your choice. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

We could not believe when we got a phone call from my son Zeb this was a terrible tragedy, Joe was the gentleman of the gentlemen he was the man that every man aspires to be,his presence may be gone but his spirit and bright beacon of what life should be will burn forever in our hearts,he was a great friend to all who had the priviledge to meet him,our sincere condolences to the entire Braz family and may God heal your sad hearts,but taking comfort in knowing that we and all that were priviledged to know Joe are very greatfull for that blessing. There were no words to express the sadness I felt when my mother told me of Joe’s passing. He was always so kind, friendly, and always had a smile on his face. Such a pleasent member of the community that will be dearly missed, his memory never forgotten. As you grieve know that I am thinking of your family and honoring the memory of Joe.
