I am a neighbour of the Pereira’s and Jose would stop and chat whenever I was out in my front yard. When my children were very young, I would often come home from work and find apples on my front porch. It took me many years to find out who had left them. Very typical of “Joe.” When I was in my backyard, I could hear him whistling while he worked. He sounded great! I have missed seeing him over the past many months and I’m glad he had a long life; he deserved it.

My uncle was a kind and gentle man who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He took pride in tending to his lovely well kept garden. My mother had a little green chair that he hand made in Portugal, she brought it back to Canada on one of her return trips. She proudly displayed it with a nice doll sitting on it for many years in our Gordon Head home. Rest in peace❤️.
