October 4, 1934 to October 14, 2010
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our dear husband and father, Joe, who left us suddenly on October 14th. Born in Havelock, New Brunswick the second eldest son of Melbourne and Mary Fawcett. Joe was a Chief Warrant Officer (retired) in the Finance Dept. of the Canadian Armed Forces and a long time active member of the Royal Colwood Golf Club. He was named Citizen of the Year in 1994 by the JDF Chamber of Commerce, and involved in many Charitable Organizations on the Island as well as past President of the South Van Isle Lions Club. He is survived by wife Jackie; his sons Greg and Jeff; and daughter Susan (Don); dear brother of Frank (Mary), Elva Valcamp (Ken), Joyce Miller (Keith), Francie Bingham (Tom) and Calvin (Susan). Joe will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Matt, Chris, Jeff, Miles and Keenan. Predeceased by sister Opal Herbison and brother Mel (Ann). Step father of Jean Claude (Adele), Ghislaine Lehtonen (Veli), Carole Houde (Andy) and Robert Beriault; and their children Matieu, Sophie, Jean Francois, Marie Josee, Eric, Angele, Niko, Mika, Julie, Karine and several great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Royal Colwood Golf Club, 629 Goldstream Ave on Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 1pm to 3pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Cancer Research through the Terry Fox Foundation.
