While enjoying a much-anticipated family weekend in Chilliwack, BC, with Dola, Logan and Allie, Gilbert passed away after receiving exemplary care at Royal Columbian Hospital. Heartfelt appreciation to everyone in the Clover Point Care family who provided care and attention to his needs following his accident and brain injury in 2016.

A celebration of life will be held with his siblings in Lac-des-Aigles, PQ on September 20, 2023. A donation to the Victoria Brain Injury Society would assist others in the community who need help like Gilbert’s family was grateful to receive.

Je me souviens.

    To Gilbert’s family and friends,
I worked with Gilbert at Willows Elementary and enjoyed our time together there. Always a smile from him and I often think the toque.
Gilbert was also a member of the Willows Tennis group and I think he enjoyed his time on the Oak Bay courts with us. I was also so sorry to hear about his earlier accident.
    All my sympathies.

    Dear Dola and Allie,
My sincere condolences on the passing of Gilbert. I remember him as outgoing and friendly at Allie’s birthday parties, many years ago. He brought such warmth, fun and humour to all. We are truly sorry for your loss.

  • Fausto Milinazzo

We were very sorry to hear of Gilbert’s passing. I have many fond memories of our days at Royal Roads and a number of years together coaching girl’s soccer in Gordon Head. I enjoyed his company very much. When he committed to something it was 100% and to say he was a competitive tennis player would be very much of an understatement. Yet he was one of the kindest, most thoughtful people that I have known.

Our sincerest condolences to Dola and the Dube family. Gilbert will be missed.

We admired Gilbert for his positive spirit and drive to tackle any task and succeed. He was a good companion skiing in mountainous terrain. He “liked” ice cream and on at least one occasion took on the challenge at the Big Scoop ice cream parlour enjoying their biggest bowlful so that it was his prize of 32 scoops. Gilbert remains forever in our hearts with love from your friends Juha, Susan and family

I will always remember him as a very kind person.

A wonderful man who will be dearly missed…
He was a prevalent person in my world and I remember at a church event, he asked me if I wanted mustard on my hot dog and I said “just a little bit” as I didn’t really like mustard…. He came back, gave me my hot dog and I couldn’t see the hot dog under all the mustard…
I always chuckle at that memory every time someone asks me if I want mustard and I’ve forever changed my answer to “no thank you”.

    Damien.
