March 22nd 1916 to March 14th 2011

“Kitty” passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on March 14th, 2011, eight days short of her 95th birthday.

Kitty was born in Bethnal Green, London, England and came to Canada at an early age. Kitty grew up in Montreal with her parents and two sisters. Her life centered on the church and her family, and it was in church, at her friends wedding, that she met Jack, her husband for 60 years. She worked for Bell Telephone until leaving to raise their son Alan and daughter Janice. Kitty later returned to the work force with Zeller’s Head Office in Montreal.

Jack and Kitty moved to Victoria in 1987, after retiring, where they enjoyed their new life in the Cook Street Village. It was there that they attended Christ Church Cathedral and made many new friends.

After Jack became ill and was placed in care, Kitty came to live with Janice and her husband Dave. St Michael and All Angels became her new neighbourhood church. Kitty marveled at how many new friends she would make again. She enjoyed her ACW and Women’s Guild meetings and loved to knit and contribute to outreach projects.
She also supported the SPCA and many other charities.

Kitty’s other passion was sports, especially hockey. She told stories of sitting up late listening to the Montreal Canadiens on the radio before games were televised. The Canadiens were her team, along with baseball’s Expos, until moving to Victoria, when she then supported the Canucks, as her new west coast team.

She had a joy for life and an interest to keep learning new things. She purchased a computer, and she and Jack, learned to email and send digital pictures to friends and relatives throughout England and Canada.

Those left to celebrate her life are son Alan (Linda), daughter Janice (Dave), grandsons Kory (Andrea) and Regan (Tannis), as well as many much loved nieces, nephews and friends.

Special thanks to her niece, Alison Logie, who came to assist the family with Kitty’s care over her final journey. Thank you also to Dr. Warnock, the Victoria Hospice Society, P.R.T. Home Care Nurses, and Beacon Support Staff.

Donations may be made to Victoria Hospice Society, 1952 Bay St., Victoria BC V8R 1J8 or St. Michael and All Angels Church, 4733 West Saanich Rd., Victoria BC V8Z 3G9.

A Funeral Service to be held Saturday March 26 at 3:30 pm at ST MICHAEL AND ALL ANGELS CHURCH, 4733 West Saanich Road, Victoria BC.
