August 9, 1933 – May 25, 2010

Our wife and mother fought a brave battle with lung cancer. She rests in peace now.

Klara immigrated at age 16 with her parents; Leopold and Herta; sister Ella and brother; Lee, from Deutsch-Troschin, a German farming community, and arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia on March 9, 1951. They moved to Duncan where family sponsored them. Soon after, Klara moved to Victoria and worked as a Nurse’s Aid at St. Joseph’s Hospital, emergency department.

Allan and Klara met in the winter of 1954 and fell in love at the Old Time Dance at the Victoria Ballroom on Government Street. They were married the next summer, and lived in Gordon Head all of their 54 years together.

Klara is survived by husband Allan; sister Ella; brother Lee; children Richard, Gail and Ross; daughter-in-law’s Diane and Marnie; son-in-law Dwayne (Duke); grandchildren Dayna, Ryan, Tania, Kyle, Deryk, Sam and Jacob.

Special thanks to the doctors and nurses who helped Klara with her final journey at Royal Jubilee Hospital and Victoria Hospice.

    Dear Alan,

We were sorry to read the notice of Klara passing on in the paper. She never lost the lovely smile that she has in the picture you put with the notice.

When we first moved to Victoria to our house on Cedar Hill you and Klara welcomed us to the neighbourhood. We had many good times together. Klara made the best tea from her own personal mix of loose teas, she shared her receipies and loved to tell you her stories. She was our egg lady. You both gave us help with our garden by sharing all you knew as well as some plants. We have lots of good memories and are thankful for knowing you both.

Our thoughts are with you at this very sad time,

    Beth and Sandy
