January 25, 1911 – September 17, 2009

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Predeceased by his parents, Bak Wah and Dai Kit; his beloved wife, Sue Wah and daughter-in-law, Susan. Survived by his children, Wayne, Ann, Gilbert, Raymond and Philip (Diane); grandchildren, Todd, Sara (Michael), Marie, Keith, Laura, Lindsay, Jeremy and Jocelyn and great-grandchildren, Cole, Oliver and Sam. Dad passed away peacefully after almost 99 years of a remarkable and stellar life. Dad was supported throughout his life by a wonderful caring wife, family, good neighbours and friends and since March 2005, the staff of Victoria Chinatown Care Centre. Supported by his family, Dad operated KC Market in Oak Bay for many years and was known as a friendly, helping merchant to all. Special thanks to Dr. MacPherson and Raymond Yee for their special support of Dad. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Victoria Chinatown Care Centre, First & Second Floor Big Screen TV fund, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC or the BC Cancer Society.
A Celebration of Life will be held in MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 12:30 pm. Interment to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park.

Charlie and I were very saddened to hear of the loss of your father. It is a very difficult time to go through and we want you to know our thoughts are with you. We have both lost our parents so know the hole it leaves in your hearts. We hope you get through this tough time knowing that a lot of friends and family are thinking of you.

Dear Wayne, Ann, Gil, Ray, and Phil: I remember your Dad from KC Market days, as we lived in the same neighbourhood as the store. I will also remember him as he was at Wayne’s birthday last year… contented and surrounded by his family! If all elders could be so blessed. I will be thinking of you on Saturday.
