Dad went peacefully to sleep on September 18, 2007 having been blessed with a wonderful life for 97 years – good health, good friends and a loving family. He was born September 10, 1910 in LeRiviere, Manitoba. His family moved to Victoria when he was in his early teens. He worked as a plumber on many construction jobs on the Island and was a member of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters for 70 years. His enjoyment in life extended to every subject, from the latest in technology to what his family was doing. He was an enthusiastic participant in the activities of his grandchildren and great grandchildren, being active and independent up to the last six months. Dad was predeceased by his wife and love Gladys; brother Ernest and sister Lil Underwood. Survived by son Bob (Arline) and daughter Marilyn (Ray). Much loved by his grandchildren, Rob (Lenora), Renee (Michael), Gary (Noelle), Matthew, Laurie (Shawn) and his fabulous 9 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his brothers, Bob (Thelma) and Bert; sister-in-law Rose (Owen); his good friend and companion Marge Duncan; plus several nieces and nephews. His strength as a vibrant independent Dad will live on in all of us. Many thanks to Dr. L.A. Leong for his care and friendship to Dad and to the staff of Glengarry Hospital, Chandler Unit. A Celebration of Len’s life will take place on Friday, September 28 at 2 pm at MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson & Vancouver Streets. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
