We say goodbye to a beautiful lady, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend after a courageous 18 month battle against melanoma cancer. A Lady to the End. Linda, always with a smile, carried herself with grace and dignity. Predeceased by her father, Carl and mother, Doris. Linda is survived by her husband of 44 years, Alan; her daughter, Tara; her son, Bryce and grandson, Tevne. A beautiful woman, a loving soul, a true friend and an ardent and expert shopper, her Visa’s may now rest in peace, as Linda continues her journey.

No service or flowers by request; a celebration of Linda’s life will take place at a later date. Memorial tributes may be made directly to Victoria Hospice, 3rd floor, Richmond Pavilion, 1952 Bay Street, Victoria, BC V8R 1J8. Dear Allan

I find it hard to believe the news of Linda’s passing. Although I knew her for only a short time, I remember Linda as being full of vitality, extremely generous, caring, loving and one beautiful individual.

My thoughts are with you at this time.

  • Robyn Meredith Bryson

    Dear Alan and family,

I am so sad to hear of Linda’s passing. She was a marvelous human being and a great woman. I often thought of her and regret the times I passed your home and thought of ringing your doorbell and didn’t.
I am pleased to have known her briefly and to have experienced the
    strength of her presence.

    so she leaves an imprint…

  • Reece Tibbitt

    Bryce,

I’m deeply sorry to hear your mom passed away.

I fondly remember her warm and embracing charm, hanging out at your house was always a sophisticated pleasure, she was both interested and interesting. But truly, the moment I’ll never forgot, was the time you snuck off to Banff and your mom called and said “Reece Tibbitt would you like to tell me what happened this week-end?” That is etched in my mind like it was yesterday, not nearly twenty years ago. Call display would have ruined that moment for me, and as disagreeable as it was then, it is a real gem of a memory today. My hat’s off to your mom, Linda, for leaving us with such great thoughts!

I hope you and your family are surrounded with compassion and love.

  • John & Pauline Langdon

  • Shirley (Smith) Burden

    Dear Alan, Bryce & Tara
What a shock to read of Linda’s passing. We were next door neighbours in Calgary Woodlands- my sons- babysat you Bryce and Tara – remember the Smith Boys? I know you’ll remember our wonderful Maltese who bred your puppy Angel?… what joy. Your mom gave that joy to all who knew her as well.
What a surprise to learn that we share the same island a few miles apart. Would love to see you again so if you ever feel like a drive to get away- you are welcome anytime. Brad, Geoff & Steve also send their regards.
Linda is sharing heaven with Angel amidst our prayers for you.

  • Kaye Barnett

To Alan, Bryce, Tara, Chris, Tevne and Lily,
What a joy to have shared the past few years with Linda and getting to know all of you! Thank you for your love, wisdom and beautiful family who Linda treasured so very much. It was so beautiful to see her transition through the stages from anger and anxiety into a complete acceptance and peace with her life, and from what i gather from those who were there, she was blessed with a peaceful and pain-free passing into the next life, surrounded by all she loved so. We shared many laughs, sad times, everything in a bundle together over the past few years, but she carved out a special niche in my heart that will always remain with me. I can only imagine her beautiful angel wings must be extraordinary, full of sparkle and panache, like her character, and she will be lighting the way for all of us.
May God bless and keep her, and all of y’all.
    love, Kaye xoxo

  • Lillian Dalton

I belonged to a group of women who met for lunch once a month during the 80’s and 90’s. When Linda joined our group she was injected spark of liveliness. I, personally, loved her great sense of humour and aggression. I remember going to the new house for the first time (NW Calgary) and taking the tour – she had done such a fabulous design job.t. One of our group brought her lap dog which proceeded to jump up on the (white, I think!) couch and settle comfortably. I’m sure Linda was secretly horrified but she never batted an eye – just remained the gracious hostess.

  • Tammy Ter-Mitchell

I started house Cleaning for Linda 2 years ago, I enjoyed and always looked forward to my two week clean. she would always greet me with her beautiful smile. She always took the time to see how I was even though she was going through so much..Linda you were a fighter right to the end. I am so proud of you. Alan, Bryce,Tara My heart is aching for you right now. I will always carry Linda in my heart.as Linda would say love always…
I love you Linda and am blessed to have known you..

    Dear Alan and family:

We were so sorry to hear about Linda. We have so many great

memories of Linda, golfing, parties, movies, wine, and those earrings!

We still all chuckle about some of our escapades that included Linda,

she was a big part of the early years at Country Hills.

    She will be missed.

  • Sue Simard

Alan, Bryce and Tara and of course, beautiful little Tevne. I can only thank all of you from the depth of my soul for sharing your most beautiful, spirited wife, mother and grandmother with all of ‘her tribe’. Your honouring of Linda’s soul and willingness to share those intimate moments with me/us has had a profound affect on me and I thank you so much. I was blessed to be a part of that special group of women who came to love and cherish Linda. I can’t tell you how much I learned and how much we shared in that closet and bathroom of hers. Some days we’d laugh, cry, curse and laugh some more and the hours just flew by. It was a magical time we spent together, sharing friendship and trying to come to terms with life, family and all the complexities of being human. Her passion for life brought many people closer together. Linda was a gift in my life and I will pass on her wisdom and generosity of spirit as best I can to keep her memory alive. You are a very special family and it has been an honour getting to know you.

  • Helen Webster

    Dear Alan,
My deepest sympathy to you on the loss of your best friend and love of your life. My fondest memory of Linda is the fun we had driving to golf tournaments, turning up the radio and signing our hearts out.
May your fond memories help in healing your broken heart.
    All my love,
    Helen

  • Marc Spencer and Bev Sitter

We are so sorry to hear about your loss.

  • Rosa Fishman

Dearest Allan, Benny and I are truly sorry to hear of Linda’s passing. We will always picture her with that leather carpenter’s apron nailing the wood siding to the house when you guys were renovating and adding a second story to your Woodland’s home. Not only did she do the major part of construction but she did the designing. Blew us away seeing this classy lady shed her designer clothing for a carpenter’s overalls so that she could do the major part of the addition herself. What a worker she was! She was so talented, so artistically creative and had such flare for fashion. Visa had had to love her. Linda was Linda and that’s what we all loved most about her and that’s why we will miss her so much.

Allan, are hearts go out to you, Bryce, your grandson and all extended family.

Benny and Rosa Fishman and family

Shocking news in The Calgary Herald this weekend. Obituary photo of Linda smiling says it all — that is how we remember her! Full of life and energy, well decked out, happy, cared for others, loved to renovate then move (!), loving mother to Tara and Bryce. Linda adored you, Alan. You respected and treated her so well.
It has been many years since we were members of the Calgary Newcomers’ Dinner Club. Then a group of us went “solo” for awhile.
