June 17, 1929-April 1, 2011

Lita Clair Regnault (née Hull) was born in Sandpoint, Idaho and died peacefully in Victoria, BC at the age of 81 years. She was predeceased by husband Jacques Abercrombie, father Charles Parker, mother Mary Frances and siblings Frances Imogene, Charles Ronald and Viola Marlene, and daughter-in-law Mary Jane.

Lita is survived by siblings Beaudreau ‘Beaud’(Marianne) and Carol; children Raoul, Catherine(Steven) and Scott(Marilyn); and grandsons Ryan, Cordell ‘Hawk’, Kevin, Michael ’Joe’ and Steven; brother-in-law Paul(Mildred) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The Hull family lived in Sandpoint, ID, Mt. Vernon, WA, and Juanita, WA. Lita graduated from Lake Washington High School, Kirkland, WA in 1947. She graduated from Vancouver Bible School in 1951.

Lita and Jacques married Dec 21, 1951. Their life together was filled with travel; first with the RCAF and then with other government jobs in Canada. They had three children; Raoul born in Vancouver, BC (Gwen and Ryan & Cordell), Catherine born in Chatham, NB (Steven Graham) and Scott born in Zweibrücken, West Germany (Marilyn and Kevin Michael and Steven)

Lita began child care for others at age 14 as a mother’s-helper. The summer before she married she was the cook for Pacific Coast Children’s Mission at Camp Homewood, BC. She was a Pioneer Girl Guide leader, ran Family Care (a nanny for doctors on holiday), did homecare for the elderly, and fostered many children and young people. She served her church wherever she lived; as nursery Mom, choir member and Sunday-school teacher. Lita loved to sew, knit and crochet. She made many quilts, PJs and afghans as well as innumerable other items.

After retirement she moved to Victoria with Jacques and continued to follow her church and handicraft interests as well as having a daycare in their home for eight years during which time she took care of her treasured ‘adopted grandchildren’ Bridie and Chris.

Lita’s personal strength, determination, and individualism were evident to the very end. She strove to care for everyone as if they were family and we will all miss her.

We would like to thank Dr. Chris Jones for his exceptional kindness, and each of the nurses for their compassionate care.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 1:30 pm at Central Baptist Church, 833 Pandora Ave. Victoria, V8W 1P2. (250)385-7786. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada – BC branch, #200 – 4940 Canada Way, Burnaby, BC V5G 4K6 or on-line @ WWW.kidney.ca

    To the family of Lita,

We would like to offer our sincerest sympathies on the passing away of Lita. She was an increible lady!!! She used to bring baskets of food and nessecties to my mother constantly (she was a single mother). She used to babysit my sister and I quite often free of charge! I often saw her doign dishes at church and knitting items to be sent away to needy people. For my wedding, she crocheted me a beautiful purple blanket. She was an increibly generous lady. I have never met anyone so giving and hard-working!! I will miss seeing her on my visits to Victoria.

may the Lord comfort your hearts and give you peace, Natasha and Kyle Eddy

Blessings to you all as you spend time together as siblings reminiscing your good times together as a family. May you be filled with many wonderful & fun memories! Be comforted by the knowing this is just a passing, not the end of a life and by knowing your Mom & Dad are now reunited for eternity. Wishing we could head west to be with you all in these days of grieving the empty spot she will leave in the here & now. (Jamie & I have been doing our own reminiscing of when “Uncle Jaques & Aunt Lita” would come to visit the farm. ) Love & prayers from your cousin, Pauline and family
