Passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on Oct 4, 2011 at Victoria General Hospital where she was cared for by many caring and dedicated nurses. Born in Sulmona, Italy on Dec 18 1927, Livia worked hard on the farm and made fine embroidered linens. She immigrated to Canada in 1961 when she married Matteo Di Iorio and started a new life with wonderful friends. Mom is survived and will be dearly missed by her two daughters Mafalda and Daniela, and son in laws Allan and Don. Livia cherished her grandchildren Nicholas, Alanna, Evan and Marco and loved to be with them; Nonna will always be in their hearts. She is also survived by sister Fulvia, brothers Giulio and Nino, numerous nephews and nieces, as well as extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 24 years, Matteo, sisters Amelia and Loretta, brother Elio, niece Pina and nephew Venanzio. For many years, Livia was a member of the Victoria Italian Assistance Society building a strong community of friends and fellowship and organized receptions and gatherings at the Leonardo Da Vinci Center. In her leisure, Mom loved to garden and grew amazing fruits, vegetables and flowers. Funeral services will be held on Tues, October 18, 11am at Sacred Heart Church, 4040 Nelthorpe St followed by interment at Royal Oak Burial Park. A reception celebrating her life will also be held in the Sacred Heart Church hall. In lieu of flowers the family ask that a donation be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC.
