It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Lloyd Hopwood Byrnell of Victoria, B.C. on October 13, 2022.
Lloyd leaves behind his son Wayne (Luann), grandsons Mark (Kelsey), Matthew (Halayna) and great grandson Beau. Also grieving with the family is daughter-in-law Kathy Hooper (Jeff).
He is now with his loving wife Kathleen, sons Rick, Kevin and Dennis.
Thank you to the staff, nurses and care aides at Broadmead Care Society for the loving care he received while there.
You will be missed Papa. You can now soar with the eagles Lloyd.

Kim Rosenberg I have just learned of Lloyds passing. it is now 2025. This man was amazing. I was with Dennis on and off for over 20 years Lloyd was my ray of sunshine. I loved this family. Carrie Kohan (Byrnell) Uncle Lloyd was one of my favorite family members… His quick wit, dry sense of humour and laughter always made our many visits over the years so enjoyable. Lloyd spoke his truth, never held back and had a heart of gold.
Love you Uncle Lloyd. I’ve thought of you often and trust you’re in great company with your loving wife Auntie Kathy and the boys, and your siblings Ernie, Ken, George, Muriel and Wes (dad).

Its 2026 and I just came across the news of Lloyds passing. My first boyfriend was his son Wayne so I met Lloyd and family in 1978. What a character Lloyd was with his quick wit and dry humour. He always had that smirk on his face when he was telling me a story, which caused me to giggle because I soon figured out, he was going to try to put one over on me. His wife Kathleen would give me the look that said he was up to no good again.
I lost touch in the early 80’s when Wayne and I parted ways but I always had fond memories of the Byrnells. I am sure Lloyd and Kathleen had a loving embrace in heaven with their boys nearby. They were such a romantic couple.
Rest in peace Lloyd. My sincerest condolences to the family.
