He has turned out the lights, turned on the alarm and locked the door of the shop for the last time. Loran passed away peacefully early Easter morning. He leaves his beloved wife, Carol, heartbroken after 54 years together.

Surviving Loran are his wife Carol, “son” Rob (Anna), brothers Fred, Wayne (Barbara) and sister Vicki Sanders, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

He has now joined his parents, Stan and Margaret Wright, sister Jo-Ann Gurney and Carol’s parents, Ernie and Dorothy Bleathman.

Loran was born in Royal Jubilee Hospital, grew up on Cavendish Avenue in Oak Bay, and attended Willows Elementary, Oak Bay Junior, Lansdowne Junior and Victoria High schools.

Loran’s life’s work was with the family business, Stan V. Wright Ltd., which he co-owned with his brothers Fred and Wayne. Loran took great pride in the service and maintenance of the equipment and delivery fleet, particularly the early vehicles.

Loran had triple bypass heart surgery in 2002, giving us many more years together. If you wish, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. https://www.heartandstroke.ca/how-you-can-help/volunteer/join-us/british-columbia

A celebration of Loran’s life was held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 2:00pm.

To Carol, Fred, Vicki, Wayne & Barb, and their families,
I am Jette Denluck and met Loran in 1969, when I moved into the Exetor apt. next to Barb Owen.
We had a great friendship as neighbours, and she was dating Wayne Wright at the time.
Once in a while, I’d join them and Loran for Coffee at the Coffee House at Mayfair. Great times.

Barb and Wayne got married, Loran met Carol and I met Gene Denluck and we got married.
Our families all got busy and friends still, and Wayne and Loran’s Sister, Jo-Ann and George became a Huge part of our Lives.
Always remember the Halloween Socials at the Gurney’s and the Wrights were there, most in costumes.
Christmas at Gurney’s also included the Wrights, and lots of laughs.

I’m sorry that we missed Loran’s Celebration of Life, but were in Prince George for a Denluck Reunion at the time.

Condolences to all of the Wright Family and their Children.
Having watched the video, Thank you Carlee, you did a great job.
    Jette and Gene Denluck

Carol, Thank you so much for calling me. I was so sad to hear that Loran has died. I remember him for his kindness to me and my brother when we visited Victoria. I was always so impressed by his mechanical and business abilities. Most of all, it brought me so much joy to see what a beautiful relationship you and he had together. I am privileged to be at his celebration of life on June 27 via Zoom.
