Passed away peacefully in Victoria BC, surrounded by her family on January 28, 2010. Predeceased by her father, Rod, Lorelei is survived by her husband Dave; children Krystal & Ryan; mother Iolene; brothers Keith (Sandy), Greg (Alana) & their families; mother-in-law Eunice.
Lorelei was born in Vancouver on November 20, 1953. She was raised in Coquitlam and graduated from Nursing School in 1975. Dave and Lorelei were married in 1980 and had two children, Krystal & Ryan. Lorelei was a strong and determined woman who put her heart into everything in her life. She found great fulfillment as an RN in the recovery room at VGH from 1980-2008. Lorelei’s passion and love was her family. She was incredibly proud to see Krystal obtain her MD and to see Ryan reach the NHL echelon of hockey with the Montreal Canadiens. Lorelei approached breast cancer in the same way she approached life – head on. She fought until the very end. Her love of life and spirit will be dearly missed by all.
Thank you to the wonderful people at Victoria Hospice, to Dr. Sharon Allan & the BCCA staff and to all of our family and friends for their love and support.
A celebration of Lorelei’s life will be held at McCall’s Floral Chapel, Johnson & Vancouver St., on Tuesday, February 16th at 2:00pm. A reception at the Victoria Golf Course will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Victoria Hospice or the BC Cancer Agency.

My condolences are with the O’Byrne family. When I heard word that Ryan had left the Montreal Canadiens for family reasons, I had no idea this was the reason. My prayers are with you Ryan. All the best.

My condolences to Ryan and the O’Byrne family.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I follow the Canadiens and knew that Ryan was at home due to a family issue. Cancer has hit my family as well. God Bless.
