Passed away peacefully in Victoria BC, surrounded by her family on January 28, 2010. Predeceased by her father, Rod, Lorelei is survived by her husband Dave; children Krystal & Ryan; mother Iolene; brothers Keith (Sandy), Greg (Alana) & their families; mother-in-law Eunice.
Lorelei was born in Vancouver on November 20, 1953. She was raised in Coquitlam and graduated from Nursing School in 1975. Dave and Lorelei were married in 1980 and had two children, Krystal & Ryan. Lorelei was a strong and determined woman who put her heart into everything in her life. She found great fulfillment as an RN in the recovery room at VGH from 1980-2008. Lorelei’s passion and love was her family. She was incredibly proud to see Krystal obtain her MD and to see Ryan reach the NHL echelon of hockey with the Montreal Canadiens. Lorelei approached breast cancer in the same way she approached life – head on. She fought until the very end. Her love of life and spirit will be dearly missed by all.
Thank you to the wonderful people at Victoria Hospice, to Dr. Sharon Allan & the BCCA staff and to all of our family and friends for their love and support.
A celebration of Lorelei’s life will be held at McCall’s Floral Chapel, Johnson & Vancouver St., on Tuesday, February 16th at 2:00pm. A reception at the Victoria Golf Course will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Victoria Hospice or the BC Cancer Agency.

Mr. O’Byrne, Krystal & Ryan,
We are so sorry to hear of your loss. She fought a huge battle and and you were all the reason she fought so hard and for so long. Cherish all of your memories and carry them with you. I suppose you can assume they were in need of an angel up there and know that she will always be with you.
Our sincere condolences to you all.

My heart felt condolences at this hard time. I have lost 2 dear friends to cancer this past year and can only imagine what you are going though.
Ryan, I haven’t seen you since high school but watched you play yesterday against Boston – you are a wonderful hockey player!
Keep going and know that I’ll look for #20 each time I watch the Canadiens play!

Deepest sympathy and condolences to Ryan O’Byrne and the entire O’Byrne and Macdonald families. Although I have never met Lorelei, her strength continues to shine within her son Ryan. God Bless.
Dear Dave, Crystal and Ryan:
It is with a very heavy heart that I send these words of sorrow and condolences to all of you. Lorelei was a beautiful, generous and strong soul and I will always remember our times together. Not only working for years in the Recovery room, but the times she and I and several other young mothers with new babies would get together to laugh and cry and help each other with advice on our new “careers” as mothers. It was a role Lorelei loved the best and I know she is so proud of you.
Be strong and try to remember the happy times…and know that there are so many friends keeping all of you in our hearts and prayers.
Love & hugs,
Barbara, Devon & Brannon
May the peace of God comfort & encourage your hearts in your season of mourning.
I do not know the family, but Ryan plays for my team and the fans care for their heroes.
