It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Lynn Baron, beloved mother and grandmother, on March 26, 2025, peacefully surrounded by her loving sons.

Lynn was born on July 31, 1954, in Preeceville, Saskatchewan, and was one of eleven siblings. She pursued a career in nursing, dedicating her life to caring for others. She worked as an ICU nurse where she was a respected leader and mentor.

Lynn married John Saliken, and together they built a beautiful life, raising three sons: Michael (Lisa), David (Kailey), and Matthew (Marina). Her family was the centre of her world, and she cherished every moment with them. Lynn, known as ‘Gigi’ to her grandbabies, was a devoted grandmother to Solène, Sloane, Harrison, Shay, and Scarlett, who brought immense joy to her life.  She was also looking forward to the arrival of her sixth grandbaby in May.

Throughout her life, Lynn lived in Castlegar, Halifax, Edmonton, Calgary, and Nanaimo before settling in Victoria by the ocean. She had a deep passion for art, writing, and travel, with a special love for France. She found great joy in bike rides, music, dance parties, and creating lasting friendships wherever she went.

Lynn’s family is forever grateful for the love and support of her dear friend Arthur, who was by her side through many adventures, including co-authoring a book, traveling, writing, cycling, and sharing countless special moments. Arthur’s care and companionship, especially during her two battles with cancer, were a source of great comfort to Lynn and her family.

In her final days, Lynn was surrounded by the love of her family and friends, enjoying long walks on the beach with her five sisters, sons, grandchildren and Arthur. She lived a full and vibrant life, touching the hearts of all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens this Summer at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Grandmothers for Africa via the Stephen Lewis Foundation.

Lynn’s kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed, but
her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Lynn’s passing. As a roommate of John Saliken in the mid-70’s, I later was in touch with them in Calgary, Edmonton, Nanaimo and Victoria, from when the boys were very small until Mathew was becoming an engineer, the same career as my own. Though there were long periods of no contact through these 45 years or more, we always managed to get reacquainted again. I remember her as being passionate about the things she did, whether it was co-designing their house, parenting the boys, her work, or going on a trip. Rest in peace Lynn; you brave committed soul! My condolences to all you left behind so soon.

I’m deeply saddened to read of Lynn’s passing. Although it’s been many years since I’ve crossed paths with her, she was always a warm, friendly and positive person. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.

Please accept my sincere condolences. I know Lynn through cycling with the Victoria Grandmothers for Africa. She was such a lovely person and so enthusiastic about cycling and raising funds for the Stephen Lewis Foundation. I remember when she first started cycling with us and she positively gushed with admiration for the distances we went. It wasn’t long before she was doing them as well. I will remember her this way.
