Lynne A. Peterson, known in family circles as Auntie Anne and Lynne Anne, passed away at about 2:00 p.m. at the Victoria Hospice October 5th, 2011, in her beloved city of Victoria from numerous cancerous tumours. She was born on September 12, 1945 in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan to John (Jack) Laughlin Cook and Millicent Agatha Williams. Lynne graduated as an R.N. in 1965, from Misericordia Hospital in Winnipeg where she worked for a year. She and three other nursing friends travelled around Europe at which time a serious car accident changed her life forever. In the Fall of 1969, knowing she couldn’t work as an R.N., she enrolled in the University of Saskatoon, graduating in three years with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She then immediately moved to B.C. due to the prairie climate. Lynne worked for one year doing heart research in Vancouver for a group of doctors, then moved to Victoria to work as a public health nurse. This was the job for her, staying at the job until retiring just prior to age 65. Lynne is survived by three sons, Grant and twin brothers, David and John; one brother; two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Dale Peterson; father, John Cook in 1984; mother, Millicent in 2011 and an infant brother. Lynne loved to play bridge and prior to the arrival of her immediate family, she travelled to places like Vegas and Hawaii to play competitive bridge. Lynne was very rich with many great friends, she always demonstrated such compassion for her family, siblings and friends. The family are so grateful for the many flowers, various goodies etc., that were given to Lynne during her final weeks. Lynne will always be remembered for her heartfelt kindness and compassion and her fighting spirit. The family is ever so grateful for the care and compassion demonstrated by the Victoria Hospice at Richmond Pavilion, the B.C. Cancer Society and all of the volunteers at the Hospice; they are just so compassionate.
A Celebration of her life will take place on Friday, October 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at SEQUOIA GARDENS MEMORIAL, 4665 Falaise Drive, in Royal Oak (Saanich) with a reception to follow. Cremation. As expressions of sympathy, donations in memory of Lynne can be made to the BC Cancer Foundation, 2410 Lee Avenue, Victoria BC V8R 6V5 or BC Schizophrenia Society-Victoria, Branch, 941 Kings Road, Victoria, BC V8T 1W7. Lynne Anne, or as I knew her (auntie Anne) was an amazing woman, Im no good at finding the words to say during a difficult time like this, but all I can say is that the memories I have of Lynne Anne are only those which are fond. I remember several weddings/reunions/her mothers milestone birthdays, dancing with her from dusk until dawn. that woman could move, even up there with her cane and her bones aching, she would still get her groove on. I always admired Lynne Anne’s strength, and my heart is bleeding for Trudy (my grandmother), Harold and Audry, for having to lose both their mother and their sister within a few short months of eachother, my love prayers and blessings go out to her entire family. and any family function that I will be attending from now on, I know will not be the same without her! all my love xoxo
Simple words cannot describe the grief I feel at this point in time, in losing such a special person. Aunty Anne will long be remembered with terrific memories by many of us. Her strength & determination in the face of all of her life’s challenges; were something to be admired. There are very few people who can garner the respect that my Aunt truly deserved.
Since I will be unable to attend the celebration of Aunty Anne’s life due to work responsibilities, just wanted to pass along my condolences to my cousins: David, Grant & John & to all my family…I love you all.
Respectfully & Sincerely
Dan

Lynne Anne and I met in Grade 7, we walked through our teens and early 20’s together, steps filled with excitement, wonder and struggle.
I was so sorry to hear of her final battle.
To her boys; Grant, David and John, her family; Trudy, Harold and Audrey and their families and her many friends, please accept my deepest sympathies.

Lynne Anne was one of the bubbliest and most sincere people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing, and I know that she was a great mother, sister and friend as well. She will be greatly missed. You have my deepest sympathy for your loss.
I will be unable to attend the celebration of her life as I am meeting with my granddaughter in Vancouver, who I haven’t seen in a year, and I know that Lynne Anne would understand the importance of family.

Very sorry you all lost a sibling and one of your family.Remember childhood days as well and although we never touched base throughout our lives beyond Palmer, the memories still linger on.
Remember the good times and Lynn Ann will be with you forever.
God Bless

We were so sad to hear about Lynne Anne passing away. She was an icredible person. She faced more in life than any one person should have to. Our thoughts are with all of her family.
Our sincere sympathy in the loss of Lynne Anne, she will surely be missed. She was one of a kind person, with a zest for life.
REPOSTED FROM AN EMAIL SENT TO HAROLD YESTERDAY:
Thanks for keeping us posted Pard.Few things in my life have had the effect on me that your note did, saying she had passed on.It just seemed that a lot of emotions and a connection that was established over 40 years ago all came out.Even though we weren’t even in close contact the past many years, the connection in my soul was always there,so along with memories of Bernie’s long painful suffering with with her cancer,.it all was an emotional release for me today.I guess when I see people with that much spirit and ‘spunk’ in them,I follow their enthusiasm in feeling that they will make it through any and all challenges, forever. In the end, their calling is always a blessing.
My condolences to all your family and the boys….
In times such as this,we have a better understanding what the psalmist meant when he wrote “Yeah, though I walk through the valley of death….”,the signifigance being in grieving and ‘walking through’..moving on.Because, what we know of her, will be with us always..
God bless you all.
Lynne Anne will be missed by us all. She was an admirable & courageous person in every way!!!!! She was my best friend in childhood and still feel that way about her!
Hope this gives you strength to know that she had many friends who share your grief. Hugs to her boys!
