Gary Sawyer Dear Aunt Marilyn,
I couldn’t resist adding one more memory….
It was about three years ago, and the last time I saw you in person… when Mom, Shere, and me flew up to Victoria, Canada for a four day Caprio/Sawyer Family Reunion…
Exploring the beautiful Butchart Gardens together…watching you and my mom walking hand in hand like two young school girls along the flowery paths… the two of you seated together on an antique bench, animated in carefree talk…I can only guess… about shared precious memories together in the distant past…
And then back at Paul and May’s delightful home, seated around the large table, all of us Sawyers and Caprios together, while Annie played Five Hundred Miles on her guitar,…all the smiling faces around the table…and Aunt Marilyn beaming with pride and joy as we all sang together…
If you miss the train I’m on
You will know that I am gone
You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles.A hundred miles, a hundred miles
A hundred miles, a hundred miles
You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles.Lord, I’m one, Lord, I’m two,
Lord, I’m three, Lord, I’m four,
Lord, I’m five hundred miles a way from homeGodspeed in your new home, Aunt Marilyn.
Love,
Gary

Gary Sawyer Aunt Marilyn,
You are mightily missed.
I will always remember your energetic laugh, the twinkle in your eyes, and your no holding back smile.
And these memories, along with many many others…
Enjoying family visits at your historic old home with the beautiful backyard garden, near downtown Bozeman….
Our families meeting together at Grandma and Grandpa’s sweet home in Desert Hot Springs…enjoying the Caliente Hot Springs…and the delicious feast Grandma and Grandpa always had waiting for us when we finally returned to the house….
My visit one summer to your old Bozeman home where you and Uncle Joe took me in, like a doted adopted son, while Anne, Jean, and May were out of town. What fun we had together exploring the town and, again, the serenity of your garden.
Rest in Peace, my dear Aunt.
Much love,
Gary

Ron Sawyer That’s a very beautiful and insightful message about my wonderful Aunt Marilyn. She left a wonderful legacy and will be greatly missed by the many souls whose lives she touched.

I had the great pleasure to know Mickie through my son Colin and his then girlfriend Charlene Caprio Shovic. When the two married, I visited Mickie once a year. oh, what fun!!! Mickie loved to be the tour guide and the master of entertainment. She was very competitive at the board game table and would gently correct me if I made an error. Our walks were invigorating!! The real plus was listening to her stories about her beautiful family whom she loves dearly. Rest in Peace!! Francie Gardner
