Mario passed away Wednesday May 26, 2010 in his 68th year after experiencing complications with bladder cancer.
He was predeceased by his brother Carlo, and his sister Verena. He will be greatly missed by his wife Michèle; sisters Theresa (Sergio) and Dora; brother Emilio (Cathy); father-in-law Larry (Paula); sisters-in-law Colette (Bernie) and Lise, his many nephews and nieces, as well as his stepchildren Telell, Taio and Gaeli. He was previously married to Heather, then to Roselyn. Mario had many friends near and far who will also miss him dearly.
Mario was born in Zurich, Switzerland and came to Victoria in 1976. He worked as a counsellor, designing and teaching classes on personal empowerment. He created The Heart Cards along with his wife, Michéle, and wrote a book called “I’m the one I’ve been looking for!”.
In his younger years, he travelled the world as he wanted to learn about life through his own life experiences. Mario was a kind, compassionate man, with endless patience. He had a great respect for humanity and nature.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. J. MacPherson and his wife Sandy for their continued kindness and willingness to see Mario in his time of need. Also we would like to thank Dr. A. Attwell, Dr. J. Kinihan, Dr. B. Martin, the staff at VGH 6A, RJH CCU unit, and RJH Cancer Clinic, to name a few.
Mario departed this world quickly, making his suffering shorter. We are grateful to God for bringing him into our lives.
A Memorial Service will be held at McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, Johnson & Vancouver Street, Victoria, BC, on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at 1 pm.

    Dear Michele,

I just read the obituary for Mario in this morning’s newspaper. I am a stunned, and deeply saddened by his death, but so want to express my gratitude for his compassion, strength, sense of humour and wisdom, which, along with you, supported and taught so many of us over the years.

Mario is a giving and mischievous soul, and I am certain that although his tasks on this plane may be done, he is now enlightening others elsewhere. May you and your family be surrounded by his light in your sorrow.

Although it’s been a number of years since I’ve seen the him, thoughts of the two of you often come to mind. I shall still miss him dearly and will always hold him softly in special place in my heart.

With loving thoughts and my condolences to all he loved,

    Bette Kosmolak

    Dear Michele,
I never had the chance to get to know Mario, but I know that he was very important to you. It sounds as though the two of you have been through some difficult times lately with Mario’s illness. My wish for you is that the memory of these hard times is soon outweighed by fond memories of your times together.

    Love,
    Sally Marie

    Dear Michèle,
To have such Love in one’s life is a true Blessing. Mario is a wonderful soul and so are you. Living up North, I hadn’t known
Mario was ill. May all the beautiful memories you have make you
laugh, make you cry and make you Love even more. Mario always had a way of looking for the good. I appreciated his wisdom, his laughter, his love for you and his kindness. Lelle J. Zahara

    Hi Michelle

Rick phoned and relayed the news.
Mario was a light in my life at a fragile time. His love, and humor will remain in my heart. (along with the heart cards!) I can see his smile and hear his infectious laugh as I write this note. When Mario stayed here in Maine we would walk and talk into the wee hours. His depth, love and keen insight and wisdom, have stayed with me through the years. Mario also had endless patience for card games with the girls when he visited us.
I admired his ability to turn things around so they would be viewed from the inside out rather than the outside in, and forgiveness previously hidden was available. The gift of his time, (he always made time for me) his whacky jokes, his loving heart, and constant depth and kind words are what I will remembered.

I hold you with love Michelle.
I hope you will visit me sometime when you are on the East Coast!
May Mario’s memory always be a blessing.
    Love, Eva

Michele, I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Mario’s passing. I had no idea he had been unwell.

I will always remember Mario as a kind, generous and loving soul. He had a deep willingness to help others achieve their inner longings and dreams. He is to be admired for all the work he did and for the light he brought to the world.

Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. Knowing that he is on the Other Side helping you, and indeed all of us, is a great comfort. God Bless You.

    Love,
    Lia

  • Bob & Yvonne Audet

We remember when we first introduced Michele to Mario, and we noticed the attraction between the two of them, that soon flourished into love. We had some great times together playing cards, enjoying our talks together, and Mario was a great help with his skills on the computer.
We know of the love he had for Michele and the compassion for others, he had a big heart in his willingness to serve.
He will be missed , however he is forever in our hearts.

    Love & blessings,
    Uncle Bob & Aunt Yvonne
