Marion Bachman (nee McKee) passed very peacefully at age 93 on May 21, 2015, in Victoria, BC, Canada. Marion was predeceased in 2013 by her husband of over 60 years, Harvey. She is survived by her 2 children – Bob Bachman who lives in Calgary and Cathy Bachman and husband Murray Kopelow from Chicago and 3 grandchildren, Erin Kopelow and husband, Ariel Beery and daughter, Ayela living in Israel, Daniel and wife, Joia living in Chicago and Miriam and fiancé, David Williams living in New York City.
Marion was born in Regina Sask. In 1939 she moved to Winnipeg at age 18 to attend the University of Manitoba, where she graduated from Home Economics in 1942. She then moved to Toronto for the remainder of World War II, butreturned to her beloved Winnipeg until moving to Victoria in 1995. Marion was a woman who possessed strength of character and took control of her own life. She was the pillar of her family. In 1961 she decided to become a teacher, went back to university to earn her qualifications and became a Home Ec teacher at Grant Park High School for 20 years. Harvey often worked during the summers, so for several years Marion put young Cathy and Bob in the car, packed a tent, and the 3 of them drove off to travel to different parts of North America. She was ahead of her time and she had great enjoyment in all she did. She had many lifelong friends and continued to make new ones. She loved to travel and loved it best when her family was around. Cathy and Bob are profoundly influenced by her, deeply proud of her and both consider her their hero. What a way to feel about your mother! She will be deeply missed.
The family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the staff at Sunrise Senior Living Assisted Living in Victoria for taking such excellent and compassionate care of both of our parents, Marion and Harvey. You have been truly wonderful. Thank you. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Lorna Kopelow I remember Marion well; when I knew her she always seemed so energetic, organized and capable, someone who had “all her ducks in a row.” I wish you strength in the days ahead, and comfort and joy in your good memories of her.
Love, from Lorna
