It is with deepest sorrow that we announce our loving mother, Marjorie Savage, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 5, 2011. In 2000, Marjorie was predeceased by Alfred, her devoted husband of fifty years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Doreen Cameron, Janice Savage, Lori (Mark) Ferguson, Kevin (Carol) Savage. She will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Shauna, Sarah, Graeme, Heather, Carly, Scott, John, Margarethe and Katherine. Marjorie, the youngest of seven was born on May 9, 1925 in Bethany, Manitoba to Evelyn and James Bradshaw. In the 40’s she moved to Winnipeg and then Victoria, where she met Alfred. Apart from her dedication as a mother and grandmother, Marjorie worked as a legal secretary and a registrar and partook in volunteer initiatives throughout her life. She will be greatly missed by her warm sense of humour and happy disposition that she carried through to the end of her life. Her grandchildren will always remember her youthful spirit and positive personality. We would like to thank the Selkirk Place staff for their care of Marjorie over the past two years.

A Funeral Service will be held in MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, on Friday, September 9, 2011 at 10:30 am with interment at Royal Oak Burial Park with a reception to follow at Sequoia Gardens Memorial, 4665 Falaise Drive. We are so sorry to hear that Mrs. Savage (Marge to Mum) has passed away. However, we are glad to have so many fond memories of growing up with the Savages (and the Fergusons) as neighbours. We will forever hold the image of Alf with his pipe and a watering hose and of Marge managing the comings and goings of a raft of neighbourhood children.

It is hard to believe that almost 15 years have passed since your folks attended Mum’s 75th birthday party at our home. It was great to spend the day with a number of people from the old neighbourhood, all of whom had some great memories and stories to share.

My husband and I are out of town and unable to attend the service tomorrow. Mum is very healthy, other than vision problems, but relies on us for transportation. Therefore, while we cannot be with you in person, we do want you to know that we are with you in spirit as you celebrate the life of a wonderful woman who has left all of us with great memories of our years together.

    Judy Robbins (and Richard Lloyd),
on behalf of Mum (Rita), Barry, Judy, Colleen, Donna, Glen, Gayle and Gord and families
