(1922 – 2010)
Our dear graceful Marjorie passed away peacefully on January 9th at the Victoria Hospice. Born in Winnipeg, she enjoyed happy years in Montreal and later Victoria. Predeceased by her loving husband, Edward in 2002, and earlier by her brother Neil. Much beloved mother and mother-in-law of Johanna and Ian. She will be sadly missed by her other family and friends, near and far.
Compassionate, she did volunteer work for many organizations. Passionate about the arts, she was a creative potter and sculptor; a writer, a reader and a wicked scrabble player. She adored her family, friends and her garden.
Special thanks to the staff of the Royal Jubilee Hospital and the Victoria Hospice, and her loving homecare ladies.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Tributes may be made to the Victoria Hospice Foundation, 1510 Fort Street, Victoria, BC V8S 5J2.
Memorial Service at Knox Presbyterian Church on Friday, January 15th at 11:00 am, 2964 Richmond Avenue, Victoria.

Dear Johanna,
I am sorry to hear of the loss of your dear Mom. Words cannot express how I feel but please do know that I am thinking of you and Ian during this very difficult time.

Dear Johanna and Ian,
I am so glad you used the word graceful to describe Marjorie, because it fits her to a tee. I hope you and Ian are doing alright through all this, and I am so glad Jo, that you had the chance to be with her, near and at the end. Both of you have looked after her so well. We wish we could come out for the memorial service, but we will wait to see you when you get back and remember her with you then. Goodbye wonderful Marjorie! Much love, Jo and Doug
We are old friends of the Wellheiser family from the Town of
Mount Royal days and we would like to extend to Johanna our
deepest sympathy on her sad loss. Our daughter Susan joins
with us in this expression of sympathy. If psssible we would like
to learn Johanna”s current address.

I went to school with you in Montreal. I can’t remember if it was Dunrae Gardens or Mount Royal High School. My two older brothers are Stewart and Scott.
Your name is unique and I realized it was you.
I was glad to read of your mother’s long life – dying at 87. Even so, I know how sad this time is for you. My dad, Allan, died in 2006 at 90, and it still felt too soon.
So I just wanted you to know I am thinking of you in your grieving.
My mother, Margaret, moved to Victoria in 2007, and is 85. She lives at The Kensington, but is very active and social.
Best regards,
Lynn McColl-Stewart
Hi Joanna, I don’t know if you remember me as you were a little girl I think when we met you. Your Uncle Neil was our best man and godfather to our first child Andrew. My husbands name was Bill and he and Neil were best friends. Bill passed away 7 years ago. I met your mother several times when she used to visit in Winnipeg and I wanted to offer my condolences. My mother died 2 months after Bill and I still miss her and think of her often. I am sure you will do the same!

So sorry for your loss.
My Dad, Chris Conradi, was so sorry to learn about Marjorie’s passing. He reminisced this morning about the many wonderful get-togethers he and my mother, Sissi, had had with Marjorie and Ed, both here in Victoria and in Montreal. Daddy is now 96 and living at Somerset House here in Victoria. He moved here when my Mom, Sissi, died in 2000, and is weary of life now that he cannot see or take part in the many activities he once enjoyed.
He asked me to send you his condolences and hopes the memories you have of your Mom and Grandmother will sustain you during these trying times.
Sincerely,
Inger Conradi Laidley
