Having known Mary Jo for 30 years (via the Victoria Chapter of PSI/IAAP), I can say our relationship grew from one of fear, on my part — because she was a frank, straightforward person who did not suffer fools gladly — to one of respect and friendship. We had a lovely visit at the Aberdeen in February; she was looking forward to getting home. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend her funeral service to extend condolences in person because I was/am recovering from surgery. I shall miss her.

Mary Jo was a charter member of the Victoria Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (then Professional Secretaries International). I was pleased to have been Chapter President during the year of our 25th chapter anniversary, and I know Mary Jo was delighted to be acknowledged as a charter member at our celebration. She provided sage advice and support through my leadership advancement. She preferred to stay in the background but was steadfast in her participation in and support of chapter activities. We relied on her heavily. As others have said, she was a lovely lady, interested in other people. I was honoured to have known her and will miss hearing about her latest adventures.

I met Mary Jo through the International Association of Administrative Professionals and very much enjoyed conversing with her at our dinners and meetings. She was an interesting lady, who was interested in people. I shall miss her.
