Selfless, generous to a fault, kind and compassionate, Linda was always thinking of others. Whether it was her dedication to her children and grandchildren, the love of her parents, siblings and extended family, her choice of vocation, her life as a devoted Catholic or simply how she treated her co-workers and friends, Linda always led by example and lived by the ‘golden rule’.

Linda grew up primarily in Barrie, Ontario. As a child in a military family, she also lived in Churchill Manitoba, France, and the lower mainland. She graduated from the University of Ottawa in 1968 as a Registered Nurse. After living in Vancouver for a short period, she moved to Victoria where she, her siblings and parents eventually all took up permanent residence. In Victoria in the 1970’s, Linda began teaching at Camosun College. Through work, Linda gained many a trusted friend, many of whom remained very close to her following her retirement in 2008.  In the years since, Linda enjoyed being a grandparent, travelling, going to music festivals and exploring new things that she never had the chance to when she was working full time and raising a family. In other words, she finally took some time to spend on herself!

Survived by her father Ron, brother Jim, sister Anne, sister-in-law Penny, and brother-in-law John, Linda also leaves behind countless cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, her children Colleen and Matt, and grandchildren Gina, Naomi and Isaac. Linda has now rejoined her beloved mother Helen and son Andrew, in everlasting life.

Linda’s funeral service will be hosted at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 4049 Gordon Head Road, on Tuesday, January 12th at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to any cause you feel that Linda felt would have been worthwhile.

Linda was a light in the lives of very many, and will forever be missed by her family and friends. We love you and will always cherish our memories and time spent with you.

    Dear Colleen, Matt and family,

Please accept my deepest condolences’ for your loss. I had the privilege of meeting Linda in 1997 at Camosun College – she was instrumental in helping me be the nurse educator I am today – she was patient, caring and kind. She taught me how to create the best teaching plans! I shared an office with her and Pat when I was first hired – we had so many happy times – I loved to hear her laugh. I especially loved the trip we all made to Kelowna, for a work conference. Linda, Pat, Bunny and I all went. Linda won big, when she came back from the casino with a huge win of several hundred dollars cash! Linda also supported me when my daughter was born with two congenital heart defects in 1998 – she came to visit me in the hospital and provided much needed support and comfort over the phone in the months that followed. I had the privilege of working with Linda during her final semester at Camosun College – I missed her at work, but I was so happy for her that she was retiring, so she could spend more time with her beloved children and grandchildren. Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to connect with Linda; it was always good to catch up and to get one of her hugs! I last saw her at a retirement party in 2015 – it was great to get the updates on how her children and grandchildren were doing. She truly had a smile that lit up the room and a kind gentle spirit. As a fellow Christian, I enjoyed talking to Linda about spiritual things and know and trust that she is in Heaven now with our Lord, looking down on us all. Until we meet again Linda. My thoughts and prayers are with your loved ones left behind – you will be deeply missed. Yours sincerely, Paula Littlejohn
