My son is free to fly now, he peacefully left this earth to be with his Grandma Pat & Grandpa Larry in heaven on Tuesday, June 17th ,2025 with his family by his side.  He left behind all his pains and struggles, so that now he can finally rest in peace and tranquility.  He will be missed and forever in our family and friends’ hearts. We will all remember the goodness in him, his beautiful and energetic smile, his wonderful sense of humor and his caring heart. Matt will live on through our memories and every beat of my heart. Matt will be our guardian angel now watching over the family and especially, his sisters Morgan & Samantha just like a big brother does.

Matthew, your mom, dad, stepparents, sisters, stepbrothers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends all love you and will miss you, but we are all grateful for the time we did have with you. You are now in a safe place, a protected place where you are surrounded by beauty, warmth & comfort, a place where you can truly be the person you want to be. When our time has arrived, we will look forward to seeing your beautiful smile. Love you forever and always.

There will be Celebration of Life for Matthew on July 31st. Please contact Debbie at 250-882-8664 for details.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

My heart absolutely breaks for you and your beautiful family facing this painful loss which a parent should never have to face.
As you say…his spirit is free to fly and do as he will.
He’s most definitely looking over you all and will be until you are reunited again.
    Giant hugs

  • Leona McIntyre

To Matthew’s mom and his family:

My name is Leona. I live at Sparwood Apartments on Carey Rd. I
met Matthew when he moved into the building about five years ago.
Had many talks with him over the years. I loved Matthew. He was a
kind, sweet man. I gave him heck once in awhile to try to get him to
take better care of himself. He knew I loved him as a friend and
neighbour. He would listen and share and we always remained friends.
My heart is feeling sad right now but I know I will always remember him
as the sweet neighbour I knew . Rest in peace Matthew.
