Matthew Thomas Sullivan-Dyson

May 18, 1989 – April 14, 2017

May 18, 1989 – April 14, 2017

It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our Beloved son Matthew. A budding photographer with a unique lens through which to see his world, Matthew saw beauty in everything…and everyone.

Matthew loved documentaries and deep philosophical conversations. His eyes lit up at the thought of playing chess with his “old man” and he was exuberant when he won his first game against him. Matthew spoke quite often of cooking with Ana in the kitchen and how magnificent her food was. Matthew was also a self-proclaimed “mamma’s boy” who was never shy to proudly introduce her to his friends.

As the saying goes, “…it takes a village to raise a child…” and all who knew him loved Matthew so dearly.

Matthew is survived by his father Ron; mother(s) Teresa & Ana; brother Jamie, Glenn; his sisters Jamie & Carey; six beautiful grandparents – Oma & Opa, Nanny & Grampy (Sherrie) and Grandma & Grandpa…as well his extended family and friends – too many to list here.

Matthew’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Victoria Event Centre at 1415 Broad Street on Saturday, April 29, 2017, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please bring your happy memories of Matthew to share with one another.

May you Rest in Peace, Matthew. You have touched all of our lives in so many wonderful ways.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

  1. There are no words to express how my heart aches for all of you. A wonderful life cut short too soon. RIP Matthew Although its difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory comfort you tomorrow.

  2. We little knew that morning
God was to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
    You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
    You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.
    Our family chain is broken,
    and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
    The chain will link again.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

  4. So many long nights working with Matt at the Comfort Hotel. So many laughs and good times. Way too many hours spent gaming instead of working, only to realize we still had to get our work done before going home 🙂 What surprised me so much about Matt, was for a guy so young, he had this quiet, well spoken maturity about him. A great guy.

Till our paths cross again Matt, cheers to you and yours!

I am saddened to hear about Matthew. My memories of Matthew are of a quiet, kind and caring kindergarten boy. I’m sure that he has left so many with their own and treasured, happy memories. I will remember his big smile especially when he was the VIP of the day. My heart goes out to you at such a difficult time. I was unable to add a kindergarten photo. Sorry.
