September, 1940 - October, 2026

Maureen Anne Mooers passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on Friday, October 16, 2026, at the age of 86, in Victoria, British Columbia.

Maureen is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Erin (Jeffrey) and Deborah; her grandchildren, Tiffany, Andrew (Taylor), Tyler, and Nicholas; and her great-grandchildren, Junior, Mikayla, Finnegan, and Callum, who knew her as their cherished Nana M.

She was predeceased by her son, Michael (Eva); her parents, Fred and Agnes; and her longtime devoted friend, Bud.

Born in Victoria, Maureen moved with her family to Ottawa, Ontario, when her father was transferred there for work with the federal government. In Ottawa, she met her former husband, Gordon. They married, moved to Churchill, Manitoba, and began raising their family. Over the years, she also lived in Moncton, New Brunswick, before settling in Ottawa. After a long career with Bell Canada, Maureen retired and returned to Victoria to care for her ailing parents. After their passing, she moved to Sidney to be closer to friends.

Maureen enjoyed gardening, interior design, and sports – especially football. She shared her love of the game with Bud, a founding member of the BC Lions Fan Club. They attended many BC Lions games and Grey Cup games together. She cherished her adorable dog, Katie, and loved travelling to Scandinavia, the Baltic countries, the Mediterranean, Croatia, Fiji, and Australia. Kind and generous, Maureen had a wonderful spirit and a wicked sense of humour.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the wonderful, caring staff at The Heights at Mt. View for the kindness and compassionate care they gave Maureen.

Maureen was deeply loved and will be cherished in our hearts and missed forever.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 2:00 pm, in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
