Born in Winnipeg on November 13, 1922 – died in Victoria on October 9, 2010. Predeceased by her husband, Bruce, they were married in Victoria on May 12, 1951. A very loving Mother to Lynn (Randy) Youngman and David (Vicki) Woodward. She was an amazing Nana to Dawn, Heather (Trapper), Brian and Craig and known as Woodward to her granddaughter, Laurie (Scott) Brooke and Ella. Her sister, Eileen (Leni) and Mavis were very close. Mavis counted on Leni in many ways and looked forward to her visits. Also to mourn Mavis is Leni’s husband, Bill and niece, Mindy (Darren). Mavis proudly served in WWII as a Sergeant, stationed in Washington, D.C. Mavis loved animals and bred parrots for years. In her last few years, she enjoyed cruising with Lynn and Vicki and had her share of wins in the casino. She also took pleasure in spending time with David enjoying his gardens and koi fish. Mavis was a very kind lady and at 87 years of age, had a remarkable memory. We are all better people for having known her and will miss her immensely. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Selkirk Place (4th floor) for their special interest in Mavis’ hobbies and their respectful care to her. The family would also like to express their thanks to Dr. Friesen for his committed dedication to Mavis’ care and to Dr. Kelly for her compassionate bedside care at Royal Jubilee Hospital.

There will be no funeral by request. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallbros.com.

Lynn and David: Pat and I were very sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. I know Mom (Margaret Evans) lost her best friend and I’m so happy that they were able to go for lunch a few weeks ago and chat about everyday things. Whenever I was over to visit Mom, we went to see your Mom. She often talked about going to the Casino and travelling with Lynn and Vicki. She loved David’s garden and talked about that often as well. Keep her in your heart forever.
