Passed away peacefully at Victoria General Hospital on May 14, 2010 with her loving family by her side. Born February 4, 1920 in Victoria, Winnie was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Mandus in 1996; sister, Frances Sullivan; and brothers, Phillip, Sturdee and Richard. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Donna (Mickey) Walker, Marilyn (Toby) Hird, Wendy Michelsen (Don McWhirter) and Debra Thomas (Jeff Wilford); grandchildren, Michael, Larry, Kirk, Leanne, Sherry, Jason and Nicholas; great grandchildren, Jamie, Nichele, Calvin, Mitchell, Brett, Avery, Talon, Emily, Rowan and Harlow; great great grandson, Colby; her brother, James and sister-in-law Elsie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Our thanks to the compassionate and loving staff, especially Nancy, at Ayre Manor in Sooke.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Sooke Legion Hall, Branch #54, 6726 Eustace Road, on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Winnie’s name to the Sooke Region Historical Society, PO Box 774, Sooke, BC V0S 1N0.

Chelsea Lajeunesse It was a pleasure getting to know Winnie while working at Eagles Bluff Lodge. She was a wonderful, sweet lady and a great friend to my grandma Norma. I will miss her glowing smile and her witty sense of humour. My thoughts are with your family.
