PRSA, Milka (nee Nikolic) passed away peacefully on Friday, March 4, 2011. Predeceased by her husband, Ivan; sons, Franjo and Peter; brothers, Daniel and Ivan Nikolic; and sisters, Mande Cancar and Tina Ujakovic, she leaves behind her loving family: daughter, Gina (Jure) Stimac of London, Ontario; grandchildren, Anni, Martin, Ivan, Josip, Mile, Mark, Katica, Marina and Cristina; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Roko Nikolic; sisters, Masa Jadek, Danica Harris and Jela Nikolic; her many God Children, as well as her extended family.
Born in Vaganac, Croatia on March 19, 1929, she immigrated with her husband and son in 1957 to reside in Victoria, BC where she raised her family and enjoyed her time with family and friends in the Croatian Community. Milka returned to her homeland for the first time in 1990 with her husband, daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren. Milka will always be remembered for being a proud Croatian. Milka was very creative and loved to sew and knit slippers. Her talents were shown with each unique Croatian Folklore Costumes she created.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the team of doctors, nurses and caregivers at James Bay Care Centre for taking exceptional care of Milka. Special thank you to Dr. Ken Chan for all the years of dedicated excellent service.
Prayers will be offered at McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at ST. LEOPOLD B. MANDIC CHURCH, 4081 Gordon Head Rd., on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Royal Oak Burial Park. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallbros.com
