We are sad to share the news that our dear brother Morry passed away on Jan 29, 2026. He was born in Edmonton, studied at NAIT to become an Electronics Technologist after which he worked for Bell Northern Research there and for Nortel and other similar companies in Ottawa. He moved to Victoria around 2006 and worked here until he retired. Morry was a kind and gentle guy, a passionate intellectual and bookworm. He loved photography, computers, museums, Russell Books, Victoria walkways…
Morry is lovingly remembered by his daughter Shalana (Kyle), siblings Linda Barry, Brian Granfield (Diane) and Terry Will (Mike) and many nephews, nieces and their offspring. Morry was predeceased by his parents, Roy and Marjorie.
The family is deeply grateful for the caregiving and companionship that his nephew Ryan Barry and most caring friend Kim Dallinger provided during the last number of years. With their help we were able to keep him home as long as possible and later they ensured he was stimulated and engaged while in care. The staff and administration at Beckley Farm Lodge took great care of him and made him feel safe and loved. We can’t thank them enough.
We will be celebrating his life on March 14, 2026, at Elk Lake Baptist Church, 5349 Pat Bay Hwy from 1:30pm.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Andrea Minter We were deeply saddened to hear of Morry’s passing, and we wanted to extend our heartfelt condolences to your family.
Morry was a long-time and much-valued customer of our bookstore. He was always so kind and friendly when he came in, and we truly looked forward to seeing him and speaking with him. He was part of our bookstore family.
Morry had a genuine passion for books that was unmistakable, and our staff always loved when he stopped by. Conversations with him were thoughtful, warm, and memorable. His enthusiasm for reading brought such a special energy into our store.
He will be greatly missed by all of us.
My husband Jordan will especially miss his time spent with Mo.
Please know that the family are in our thoughts during this difficult time.
With deepest sympathy,
Andrea and Jordan Minter

Larry Saidman I had a lot of contact with Morry as a kid…..and we used to talk a lot. What about? Wish I could remember. But he was such a familiar presence at family gatherings and when you would all come over at Christmas time. But I do remember his interest in photography even at that young age. And I remember him as easy going and tolerant of my eccentricities.
Regretfully I lost touch with him in my mid-teen and adult years…..and it was so nice to connect with him at my Dad’s celebration of life as well as that lovely dinner at Linda’s when we were able to renew our relationship, talking about old times, then driving him home. And I found him to be kind, sensitive, and quite astute in his analysis of current social and political issues. As well as aware of his own condition…..and open about his own thoughts and feelings.
Reading in his obituary about his working for companies in Ottawa I was reminded of a visit we paid to some friends when we were visiting Ottawa, and it turns out that one of the friends, out of the blue, mentioned Morry’s name in a positive way as somebody he worked with.
I am so saddened to hear of his passing but heartened to hear about all the support he had during his last years. I will always remember him with fondness.
With love,
Larry

Judy Kossman Morry was a kind and wonderful man. We spent many Friday nights playing board games and card games. We had a great visit with him when we took mom to Victoria to visit. We had a great time with everyone. So sorry about his passing, but he is free of the terrible disease he had to live with. Love you Morry, I bet you and Bob have already had a reunion.
