Naomi was born in Greenock, Scotland, at the Rankin Memorial Hospital.
She was brought up in St. Catherines, Argyll by her mother and father, Anne Bevan and Don Sturrock together with Labrador, Torran. Her home is on the shores of Loch Fyne, Argyll. From the age of 4 1/2 she attended Strachur Primary School, a local village school of approx. 60 pupils. She had a very happy time at this excellent school. Going to Pony Club at Argyll Riding School, near Inveraray started her passion for all things horses. She competed in many gymkhanas, winning many rosettes.
Following Primary School, she spent some time at Dunoon Grammar School. Naomi was very involved in Highland Dancing and competed at the Inveraray Highland Games, home of the Duke of Argyll, in his castle grounds. At one such event, winning a Gold Medal.
Naomi moved schools to Lochgilphead High School where she pursued her passion for Art, Biology and a keen interest in English Literature.
At 16, she embarked on a Student Programme at the Riding School. Living in their Farm accommodation, the few students learnt all aspects of horse husbandry, mucking out, feeding, grooming, and some eventing and jumping. This led to her gaining British Horse Society qualifications as a Ride Leader. This meant taking out groups of riders all around the Argyll trails and being responsible for their safety.
At 18, she found herself a job at a Stud Farm near London Ontario. She was there for about a year before coming to Vancouver Island and joining Mary and Doug Carr at their ranch with horses and dogs. Naomi was very happy there, near Ladysmith, became part of their family and loved the work she was doing there.
Later on, Naomi moved to Victoria, doing something totally different and had a few positions in the service industry, latterly spending four years at the Steamship Restaurant and Bar at Victoria Harbour. She loved this job; she loved the people she worked with. Naomi found herself two further jobs working on horse farms and bought herself a trailer to live in on one of the farms. Naomi offered a dog-sitting service where should would look after people’s dogs whilst they were away.
Naomi embarked on a three-year College Course in Massage Therapy at Camosun College. She was planning to be a Massage Therapist, where her unique abilities of expertise, professionalism and genuine caring could be utilized.
Naomi was extremely well organized juggling her restaurant work, horse work, dog work and college. Her life was full, exciting, ambitious, adventurous and she always managed to fit in her friends, who meant the world to her.
A cool boyfriend added to the mix, with an extended family to welcome her.
All in all, a life well-lived, to the full, but taken much too early.
Naomi will be a huge loss to all those who knew her and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 2:00 pm.

Laurie Weston A beautiful young woman with so much to offer. My heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues for this tragic loss.
Naomi – you are in my thoughts constantly – it seems so surreal that only 5 weeks ago you were reading bedtime stories to my boys with me. I’m so grateful you came to visit us and we got to spend that time together – I was so delighted by how happy, excited and full of purpose you were. I will always cherish the memories of our adventures growing up together: galloping around on Maverick and Bubbles as kiddos, to teenage partying or eating pints of Ben and Jerrys in our PJs. I’m sorry I can’t be there to celebrate your life today – but you are in my thoughts always. I love you, I’ll miss you. ❤️
My heart breaks for you Annie and Don – we all send you our love and condolences always. X
