Born In Trissino Italy, Nereo grew up in Valdagno (Vicenza, Italy) before coming to Victoria in 1956. Nereo passed away peacefully Easter Sunday just shy of his 90th birthday. Loving husband to Olga and lovingly remembered by his daughters, Loretta (Ray) and Rosella (Neil).
His final message to the family was to let his wonderful grandson, Harland, whom he adored, know that he will always have an everlasting place in his heart. Predeceased by 4 brothers and 2 sisters, survived by one brother Dante (Ada) and numerous family and friends all in Italy. Nereo ensured his daughters visited Italy on numerous occasions during their childhood to instill the love of the Italian culture, the experience of travel, and to have a relationship with our extended Italian family. Nereo loved the outdoors and had a passion for gardening, long walks and being with his family. Nereo was a founding member of the Da Vinci Centre, Italian Cultural Society of Victoria in its beginnings, as a member for over 55 years. Nereo will be sadly missed by all who knew his enduring smile and his kind and gentle heart.
Prayer Vigil will be held on Tuesday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m. in McCall’s Floral Chapel, Johnson & Vancouver Streets. Mass of Christian Burial and reception will be held on Wednesday, April 10 at 12 Noon at St. Patrick’s Parish, 2060 Haultain Street. Entombment to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations to Victoria Hospice & Palliative Care Foundation gratefully accepted. We thank the staff and volunteers at Hospice Victoria for their caring service.
