“Gone too soon”
It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our dear sweet Nicole in Hospice on January 16th. She fought an amazing, inspirational and courageous battle against her cancer and stayed positive until the end. She touched so many lives and hearts in her short time with us. She leaves behind her soulmate, best friend and loving husband, Scott and her two beautiful daughters, Brooke and Jada. Also grieving her loss is her mother and father, Carole and Tony Chartier; her in-laws, Norm and Betty Thomson; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Colleen Moore and Steve Thomson and Donna and Dean Thomson. There are many aunts, uncles and cousins that will miss her greatly. Nicole was born and raised on the mainland. For the past 17 years, she has worked for Dr. Bill Stankoven at the Mayfair Dental Centre. She loved her job and her second family as she referred to Dr. Bill and her fellow workers. We must thank all of the wonderful friends that supported our family with love, hugs and food during this time. A very special thank you to Claire McCutcheon, Karen and Warren Wright, Rob Heppell, Dr. Bill and Lorna Stankoven and to Mark Crisp, plus all of Scott’s fellow firefighters that have been there for him every step of the way, Dr. Elizabeth Grant, Dr. Christine Jones, CRD Nurse Stephanie Steele and Hospice Doctors and Nurses. Bless you all. We have wonderful memories to cherish forever and know that she will be with us each and every day. Her faith, hope, loving personality and beautiful smile will be treasured by us all.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Lambrick Park Church, 1780 Feltham Rd., Victoria, BC. ln lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Nicole may be made to “Ride to Conquer Cancer – Team Nic” online at www.RememberNic.com/donate or to the Victoria Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation, 1510 Fort St., Victoria, BC, V8S 5J2. Hi I am a patient of Dr. Dafoe’s @ the Mayfair Dental Clinic.
I remember Nicole and her smile in the office and just want to give my deepest condolences to you all, her family. I’m sure she will be greatly missed at the clinic. The girls there seem to be close and have a good working repor with eachother.
Please take care,
Susan Wheeler
We will miss Nicole so much. She was a beautiful friend. I will forever remember the last trip we took together to celebrate our 40th birthdays. There she was ziplining- upside down hands free, and of course with that big bright smile. She was so brave! Good memories that I will cherish forever.
Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss.

Scott, Brooke and Jada,
I was shocked to hear of Nicole’s illness, but not surprised by her bravery. She’s always been so strong.
It is hard to imagine what you must be going through. I am so, so sorry. Please know that I am thinking of you all, and wishing you strength as you deal with so much grief.
May you find a little peace and comfort in knowing that your grief is shared by so many of us. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
God bless.
Scott, Brooke, Jada and all your extended famiy,
We are deeply saddened by the loss of Nicole. Not only a wonderful mother, she was the epitome of the perfect 4-H parent and leader – always there for the kids, both physically and emotionally. She was positive and supportive in every way, got the job done and was always very dependable and organized. Nicole will be forever missed.

I was so very sad to hear of Nicole’s illness and now her passing. I remember her from our children’s Frank Hobbs days. She always had such a friendly smile and a positive presence. My deepest sympathy to you all.

Dear Scott, Brooke, Jada and family
My prayers and thoughts are with you all. The memories I have of Nicole are the talks, jokes and great laughs we had on our way to and back for 4-H meetings and events. We especially laughed a lot about the time she forgot to pick me up for a 4-H event and also the time she was going to pick me up a week early for a meeting (she said she wanted to make sure we got there in time). Nicole’s upbeat personality will live forever. God Bless you all.

Dear Scott, Brooke and Jada:
We remember being in the hospital at the same time over fourteen years ago. We were having our second and third babies and you were having your first. Our thoughts are with you during this very sad time. We were kept up to date on Nicole’s illness through a mutual friend (Corrina) and know that you have an amazing family support system. Many people live a lifetime and do not have what your family has. We know you will find the strength to get through this together. Please let us know if you need anything and know that we will be supporting Team Nic in honour of Nicole and others who have been taken way too soon. Holli, Bill, Tanner, Amanda and Nicola Hodgson
