Nora Elliott Oldfield, born February 12, 1925 passed away April 19, 2016. Predeceased by her husband, Brian Oldfield in 1976, she will be greatly missed by her son, Rob Oldfield (Geraldine Pugh); daughter, Arlene Oldfield (Tim Lindsay); granddaughters, Marina Fayerman-Hansen (Gabe Fayerman-Hansen) and Cristi Oldfield Lindsay.

Originally a prairie gal, she moved to the Peninsula from Saskatchewan in 1941 with her parents at age 16, married the love of her life, Brian when she was 25 and had two wonderful children, (her words, not ours!) shortly after. She was a stay at home mom, devoted her life to the church, helped and comforted many people who were in need, loved singing, playing the piano, organ, accordion – music was her passion. She was an avid traveler – was a member of the World Ploughing Association so enjoyed many travels abroad and made many friends along the way. She was a wonderful wife, mom and nana who will be missed by all who loved and knew her. Someone said recently….she did so much, so quietly. That was our mom.

Celebration of mom’s life will be at the Elk Lake Church, 5349 Pat Bay Highway on Saturday, May 28th at 10 am. There will be refreshments following the service.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity that helps others in need. Mom (Nora) would approve.

“Noni” Oldfield was a wonderful friend to my mother Joan (and her sisters Betty and Nora) in Sannich, and with my mother until she died in 1994. I thought that Noni was so elegant, gracious and committed to entertaining “her seniors”. She did much for others that she seldom spoke of. We just loved her. I will always remember her with gratitude and great fondness.

Nora and her whole family were sure a class act !.. Years ago, my wife & I spent many wonderful group music & sing-a-longs at their house.. They had to be the most gracious & friendly people on this planet..Condolences to the family, for a great loss, not only for the family, but also for many of their friends too.

My wife and I were very saddened to hear of the loss of your Nora. My connection with her began when she called me to tune her pianos. I looked forward to seeing her every so often and soon realized that there was not going to be a predictable time frame for the appt, as there was no way that I would be leaving without having something to eat! We would chat about some of her musical stories and there were certainly many of them! What an adventurous person she was! We will really miss her, as I’m sure everyone who knew her will. Fondly Myles and Souzann McMillan.
