Passed away peacefully in Victoria General Hospital on May 8, 2010. Born on March 24, 1928 in Saskatoon, Sk., David is lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Barbara; brother, Frank (Edith); his niece, Cindy (Lorne), Brenda, Mark (Dylene), Cindy (Joe) and David (Heather); great nieces and nephews, Jeremy, Mark and Michelle; great great nieces and nephews, Branden, Laylyn, Seth, Robert, Maggie and Susan; as well as many, many friends.
David spent his career working as an auditor with the Provincial Government. An avid sports enthusiast he enjoyed soccer, 5 pin bowling, golf, softball and later slo-pitch. Following retirement, David found his passion as a cyclist travelling 25 miles a day, 7 days a week. Once he was no longer able to cycle, he continued his exercise walking 9 miles a day.
A funeral to celebrate David’s life will be held at McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow in McCall’s Family Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Victoria Parkinson’s Centre, 813 Darwin Ave., Victoria, BC, Canada V8X 2X7 or charity of choice.
