&
BRISCOE, Deryk Anderson (Peter)
August 28, 1919 – January 12, 2013
Pat and Peter were inseparable to all of their friends and family for over 67 years. Married for more than sixty years, best of friends and extraordinary parents, their absence is felt every day.
We cherish their lives together and the strength they brought to our family. Mom was born in New Westminster, B.C. to John and Mary Berry and became a strong voice in a family of 10. Dad was born in Warwick, England to Wilfred and Sarah Briscoe and was nicknamed ‘Peter’ at birth. They met when both were employed by the Royal Bank in New Westminster. Mom went on to be a wonderful stay at home Mother, taxiing three sons, Gilbert (Linda), Peter (Lynda) and Robert (Lisa) to all their activities. Dad had a long (42 years) successful career with the Royal Bank retiring in November 1978 as Regional Manager BC-Okanagan-Kootenays and he always made time for his family. Strongly committed to the strength of their faith, family, grandsons, granddaughters and extended family through the marriages of their sons. Our families would like to thank all those friends and family who visited with our parents during the past few years. This helped ease the strain of distance knowing those who cared about Mom and Dad were close when the sons could not be. We give thanks to those at Oak Bay Lodge for the thoughtfulness and care given to our Mom during the past two years. We also give thanks to the community at Carlton House who welcomed Dad and finally to the staff on 6N Victoria General Hospital who showed kindness and respect during the few weeks, prior to his passing.
A joint memorial service will be held at the Church of Our Lord on Saturday, February 16, 2013, 625 Blanshard Street, Victoria, BC V8W 3G6 at 2 p.m. In lieu of Flowers; donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Alzheimer Society. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Many the dinners, berry picking, etc. fun we had, with the tears running down Peters face. I still make some of Pat’s recipes so think of them often. Lesley Hesford I will always remember Auntie Pat’s kindness in her lack of judgement of others,, despite the strong standards she applied to herself; and Uncle Peter’s helpless laughter and tears at his own jokes, and the gentleness that made me wonder how he could rise in the ranks at a major bank. They were truly fine people.

Seona Stephen, In the last 18 months of his life Peter lived with us at Carlton House; during that time he became a integral part of our community.
As part of the “men’s group” Peter was appreciated for his conversation and sense of humour. Right to the end he was caring for others, knew exactly the right thing to do and got us all involvedi n his projects!
He will be missed but remembered by his friends at Carlton House and by the Owners and staff.
Seona Stephen, Executive Director

Eleanor Campbell ( nee Jenks) My parents Gordon and Grace Jenks treasured their long time friendship with Peter and Pat. As my brother Dave has written, we all have great memories of your parents. My favourite stories were of the ROTC !!!( Royal Outdoors and Tiddlywinks Club) A wonderful group of friends all in RV’s who made a trip each year and of course one requirement was at least one game of tiddlywinks. I remember how your parents kept in touch with my Dad after my Mum died and how much my Dad appreciated this. A lovely quality of both Peter and Pat was their genuine interest in all us us including our children and yes, we will all miss their Christmas letters. Our hearts go out to you at this sad time, but what a wonderful legacy they have left behind. Eleanor and Bruce Campbell

Nancy Lyon Pat and Peter were our neighbours on Dalmation Drive in Columbia Beach. Ron and I were very fond of the Briscoes and the friendship we had with them. We watched as the boys married and joined their families. We had lots of great happy hours on the back deck and shared recipes over the fence. I will miss the Christmas letter that kept us all informed of the family events. They will be together now, the way it was meant to be. Thinking of you all at this time and hold onto all the great memories.

Jack Brewer Peter and Pat were two of the kindest and thoughtful people I met during my 38 years with the Royal bank. I worked with Peter on Inspection and have many great memories of Peters war stories and was one of those who gave him the nickname “Smokey” We were again associates when he was Regional Manager, B.C. North. My late wife Karen always remembered Peter’s thoughtfulness when he and Patti made a visit to Prince George and gave all of the Managers wives a small RBC pin. My present wife Sylvia and I had a visit with Peter and Pat at their apartment when we were in Victoria about five years ago. It was great to talk about our times together. I will miss their annual Christmas update. Your mom and dad were very fine people and will be missed. Jack Brewer

Jackie Both Aunty Pat and Uncle Peter were a wonderful support to me and my family.
Remembering when Uncle Peter stayed home with my baby (Jacquelene) and paid for a nice lunch out for Aunty Pat and I. A lovely treat.
Remembering that they came to Calgary before the birth of our third child and stayed on to help out as John had to leave on exercise. thank-you for all those frozen meals you prepared for me, Aunty Pat.
Remembering visits to Kelowna and the time that we walked down to the beach at sunset. The waves were irresistable to the children and they danced in the water, still fully clothed.
Remembering that they came a few days before my wedding to help prepare for the reception at the house.
Such wonderful people. So dear to me,
love Jackie
Still missing you, Aunty Pat and Uncle Peter
Much love, Jackie
