It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our loving mother after a lengthy illness. Predeceased by her husband, Duncan in 1993 and her sister Gloria in 2004, she is survived by her daughters Susan (Warren) Painter, Gail Morck, sons Mike (Janis), Rick (Barb), Brian, eight grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sister Catherine McFadyen and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mom was born and raised in Qualicum Beach, as some of the early settlers there, before moving to Victoria to work for the Hudson’s Bay Company. She married Dunc in 1945 and they raised their children in Qualicum, Nanaimo and then Victoria where she continued her working career as a long-time employee at Old Morris Tobacconists, retiring in 1989. Our family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Geriatric Assessment Unit of Victoria General Hospital for their care and patience our mother received, as well as the staff at Beckley Farm Lodge during her short stay there. Also a special thank you to our brother Brian, who faithfully looked after Mom during her last few years. Mom’s wish was that there be no service, but a private family gathering for a "cup of tea", which will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
