Pat Jackson, beloved spouse and best friend to Wendy Crozier of Victoria, passed away quietly at home in the evening hours of May 27, 2016.

Pat is survived by many family and friends. In particular, his sisters, Debby and Terri, and brother, Gord, their spouses and children. Also, his Auntie Rose Unger, Uncle George Tahouney and many members of the Roland family that he remained close to during his life. He is predeceased by his much loved mom, Josie Steinbach and his stepfather, “Lucky” Jackson.

Pat was a descendant of one of the original Hawaiian families that settled on Salt Spring Island and throughout his life remained intensely proud of his heritage and ancestry.

As a young man, he had a wanderlust that sent him back and forth across the country, working at whatever, wherever. Pat worked extensively in hospitability, his first job at one of the locals until they discovered his age of sixteen.

We met in our early twenties but both moved on as sometimes happens. It was during this time that he met Betty Hiebert and her infant son, Pat’s stepson, Rod.  They returned to Whitehorse where they later married.  Pat worked contracting for the Yukon Government. During this time, Pat suffered a catastrophic accident that compromised his health for the remainder of his life. Betty and he left the Yukon to settle in the Okanagan. Though they parted ways, they were friends until his death.

It was in the Okanagan that he met Lisa Crowe and her infant daughter, Pat’s stepdaughter, Desire.  Lisa and Pat were unexpectedly blessed with two awesome boys, Jarrett now 22 and thirteen months later Wes, now 21. From the first day I met Lisa, I was welcomed to the family as a mom.  What a wonderful gift to receive.

Pat and I reconnected after 30 years and had 9 wonderful years together. We took the boys to Hawaii to have their heritage documented, something Pat was so very proud of. We made several snowbird trips and returned to Hawaii again.

Pat spent his later working life at Lordco Parts where he met a wonderful friend, Lou Sousa, who was Pat’s rock so many times.  We thank you, Lou.

I’ve heard from so many, many people of Pat’s kindness and ready smile. What can I add to that but “Be At Peace, My Love”.

I’m sure some of you may have a favourite charity or cause you would like to contribute to. Pat would be honoured and we thank you.

The boys and I would like to welcome friends and family to a celebration of Pat’s life on Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 2 – 6pm with a blessing at 3.
